    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Cards with activated abilities that give incentive for their controller "to go ham" using them always make me want to include Burning-Tree Shaman as an aggro tool that provides pain when attacking isn't profitable. I think WotC have gotten away from regeneration on creatures that attack...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I've played that Hedge Mage for the token in 100CS white weenie circa ALA. It is fine in a token strategy and has some blink payoff. Also, the -1/-1 counter is no slouch in SSE Limited even if the target survives. How do Hellkite Igniter and Eternal Dragon play out in the Penny Pincher cube...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Unfortunately, I still find it hard to slot it higher CMC cards that don't affect the board or provide card advantage. I suppose with a density of support or hosing enough symmetrical draw effects would make this a card to consider including, but even then, how many games would drawing it feel...

Makes instant-speed interaction hard as well! Four mana is a bit steep for a card that doesn't affect the board, though.

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

This card really speaks to me as well. I was very happy to pick up one of these a while back from a paper draft (and I bought a ton of MTGO, expecting it to be big in Standard), but I've never successfully played it (cube or constructed). It seems like a great curve-topper in a lot of common...

    General Mana Base Brainstorm Thread

In the mtgo vintage cube, I have mana vault in my SB about 1/3 of the time. The trick is making many 3cmc cards cost (generic)(colored)(colored) and 4cmc cards cost (2 generic)(colored)(colored) while pushing a lower curve (which happens a lot in red and white aggro). There is also an argument...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Fauna Shaman is a great candidate for Modern Masters-style Limited: synergy application, tool box ability, respectable P/T-to-mana-cost ratio. I love it in middling power environments (but it's a stinker when things get brutal n' big).

    General Mana Base Brainstorm Thread

Keep life gain sparse; make the bleed damage impacting! ... and how weird do you want to get? Looking at cards that require paying life, there could be an artifact ramp deck with some of the following: Trading Post Book of Rass Crumbling Sanctuary Bone Mask Phyrexian Processor Phyrexian...

Sets [OGW] Oath of the Gatewatch Spoiler Thread

For Riptiders that have a {U/P}{G/P} counters theme, this is a very interesting "modal" card!

Homelands seems like is was Innistrad vALPHA. I wouldn't be surprised to find out the gothic flavors of Homelands were ported to ISD at some point in the design process; all they had to do was drop the confounding fantasy tropes (minotaurs, fae, orcs, whatever else I missed). But at least...

It's like finding a strawberry in tiramisu. I like both flavors, but the unexpected addition not did align with my expectations. I suppose that I've survived.

Sets [OGW] Oath of the Gatewatch Spoiler Thread

I don't think you can call it Russian roulette when each chamber in the gun is loaded with a different type of bullet. Personally, I don't like it when decks have more than ~10 instants/flash perms in cube/limited for reasons to which Alphez alluded. A player's main phase should be somewhat...

    The Penny Pincher Cube (360)

I have found the scry lands worth playing in the MTGO Vintage cube even if they provided solely one color. The card selection they provide is much like divining top. I would love to see them at uncommon (probably just a set of 5) in a retail format. Imagine RTR/GTC/DGM if the gates also...
