First thing that comes to mind is Imminent Doom and Obscura Ascendancy - the spell equivalent of Birthing Pod in that you want a flat curve and to go in order. I guess As Foretold also fits in that category, though it's far less strict about the order. Not really what you're asking because you...

I don't know if I agree with this - I think a Rummaging Goblin could absolutely love a pile of Junk, for instance. Obviously Wall of Junk is really old, but we've had the word junk in flavor text a few times relatively recently. Probably restricts us to some flavor environments, but the average...

Treasures also fix you. Which, if you're as greedy as I am, or as unlucky as some people I know, ends up more important than the acceleration!

I like it. Got a lot of uses that they can fit on cards now that it uses fewer words (since they can omit reminder text on rares, which are more likely to be the source of finality counters) ...but it means they're encouraged to put more words on cards. So double edged sword I guess.

No, you can absolutely go under a morph - even Glory Seeker proves that - but you can't go under a bear morph very easily. Because then your entire environment has to be two power one drops or three toughess one drops.

The problem there is that (more so in Onslaught, but even in Khans and even to this day) it basically invalidates too much possible design. You can't make two drops because they compete with borph (that's the official internal WotC slang for it, I swear! Bear Morph!) You can't make three drops...

the GoodGamery preview of Quag Sickness lives rent free in my head (specifically "Vintage is the one where you can draw on cards to make them other cards, right?" and I can only hope more common previews are just mercilessly roasting the card (we never got another preview there after that one...

We did bring it up already but I also came here to post grandpa's awakening (probably still the same name, it might even make more sense that the old mentor ghost is called Grandpa in the actual language, we wouldn't blink twice at it in our language except we probably would) edit: oh my god...

Counterpoint: how good can your deck be when you have to dodge Discover just because you'll hit your one-of this idiot every time arrrrgh etc etc It's rare that I wish a commander card was a "real" card but I genuinely like this bite spell and I think it could have seen Standard play...

Game's super fun. And the best tournament card in every set is like the fifth most expensive super rare variant at most because the waifu tax is absolutely off the charts from all the collectors.

I was ready to go to the barricades to defend Bat Whisperer as something memorable enough that I knew it existed! ...but uh. I had to confirm that was actually its name first. (also, they literally printed a Skeletal Vampire bat token thanks to those weird "Guild Kit" precons) also here's a...

I assume he is either literally named Grandfather, or he was the grandfather of somebody famous (or just a famously long-lived friendly chap) and everybody started calling him that and it's his nickname. As another example, there aren't quotes around Mr. Orfeo, The Boulder even though he's not a...
