That is possible! It's not something that people will necessarily consciously notice, but it does feel kinda like "oh, they'd be disappointed if they go [blank] because pool is clearly supported but there's no gold card for it and another [blank] gets at least one" Of course I actually just...

But a mostly black cube is definitely not the average cube! ...cutting some gold combinations is reasonable, but tends to make me feel like you have to tell people up front, which is the #1 thing I hate having to do from a design standpoint, you know?

I wish there was a way to fit stuff like this into the average cube. Like, gold cards have to be a lot more impactful and they're an absolute bear to draft because they only go in one deck. But this is just a nice little power level role player and it's cute. Hopefully it fits well for someone...

anyone here who is planning on incorporating the Ring will surely want this also I love the art in the Masterful Ninja "draw art where the most important thing is not visible" way

yeah I have been informed that the Commander decks are not Modern legal despite the real set being explicitly "not Standard legal but Modern legal" like I knew it was from the Commander set I just had no idea that the Commander set was not also Modern legal (as a departure frrom the norm)

Yeah, I mostly put it in the post to make a Proudfeet! reference... but it's also a 5/5 for 1G+Food that is really hard to block. It feels like it could realistically end up in some build of the Modern Asmo Cookbook deck, it's an insane rate if you're sure to have Food. (and half the time you...

Some of these Commander leaks are pretty okay looking! (I'm not exactly an optimist.) For anyone who wants green +1/+1 counter anthem effect, here you go, she even plays well with others. Definitely too expensive for my high power level but I'm always a fan of equipment with the etb...

this is a strange combination of effects (well, the flavor makes perfect sense with the name, but I mean to see on a Magic card) but I could absolutely imagine decks that want it and it's a very good rate for what it does

Article Sink or Swim: Making Cube Approachable

The counterpoint I have to this is that having every card in the cube in the draft is not mandatory and can (sometimes) even be a worse experience (think "guaranteed that X deck shows up every time" rather than "oh dear a player might go into Y and nobody opens the right key cards") - cube could...

um excuse me if you read the flavor text on Maralen of the Mornsong it is very clear that the flavor of Vendilion Clique is "the gravest of tasks is fucking with people you don't like"

Hey, you use 4/5 of the same Zendikar lands I do! I never bragposted this here when I finished two years ago, finally just bit the bullet and paid far too much for the islands: since then I've un-Japanesed the rest of my cube but you can take kitty mountain from my cold dead hands (I assume 山...

not that I'm disagreeing with you but MAT also had jump-start, so you just barely run out of one hand's fingers if you count this weird fake set giving us 40% of the mechanics

General Major change to Standard: Cards rotate slower

they tried this with "the suspension list" for Arena Historic in practice I don't think anything ever came off the suspension list in the "now legal again" direction and I don't think anything remained on it for more than a few weeks rather than just getting a formal ban

in addition to this, it also was deliberately made shitty because they put it in at the last minute as a replacement for another card: fun fact, this article's name was reused for an article about Shadows over Innistrad card-by-card design in 2016, which is the only one you can find on the...
