    General [Contest] 72-card Nanocube

I feel like seeding lands or customizing the basic land box is fine - it's mostly to stop people like me from including weird rules that make the cube tricky to assess during voting. Bear in mind that 15 card decks mean that people will be running 5-6 lands and effectively see their entire deck...

I honestly wonder how viable that kind of strategy would be in a cube that wasn't as defensively skewed as a sudden death cube (where a core part of the gameplay is "prevent villain from hitting you")? The second player getting eight turns to kill you is entirely reasonable if you've got a more...

    General [Contest] 72-card Nanocube

I feel like it reduces spice a little because only having 15 cards to work with adds a sense of urgency to the game. Who knows - if I end up including one of my favorite dumb archetypes (Serene Remembrance + Surging Flame my beloved) I might go with it because Serene Remembrance throws the turn...

You could also do something with shapes and treatments - commons don't get any stickers, uncommons get a dot, rares get a star, and mythics are blinged out copies (which also gives your drafters a bit of an "ooh, caught a shiny!" feeling when they show up in packs).

    General [Contest] 72-card Nanocube

A few questions: Does the cube have to be a draft cube, or could we, say, make a cube split into two 36-card Sealed pools? Do we have to use the "players cannot lose by decking" rule? I've always felt like that was a bit of a cop-out. On that note... custom cards aren't allowed, but what about...

These seem related. Congrats for getting in!

The difference is because "is:booster" will OK the card if it has ever shown up in a booster in any set, while "in:booster" appears to be more specific to the set itself (at least, that's what it looks like after playing around a bit). To see this, search for "Angelic Destiny" in:booster and...

I honestly think I'm done with Magic. I was starting to get back into things because one of my coworkers is getting into playing and I thought it might be fun to play in paper again for a change... but I just can't justify my emotional investment in Magic to myself anymore. It's been a good run...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Something very silly I've noticed about Inspiring Statuary is that it turns powerstones into actual factual mana rocks. Do with this information what you will.

The one thing I'll say in Riddleform's favor is that it tends to dodge sorcery speed removal and wraths.

Manifest Dread Harrowing Swarm Hmm... ... Part of me is intrigued by some of the cards that conjure specific cards into your hand: Dragonfly Pilot Dragonfly Suit Emporium Thopterist Ornithopter Kami of Bamboo Groves Forest Has anyone given these little guys a try?

I feel like the cards that care about you being the starting player or not are even more transferrable, it's just that most of them aren't worth the trouble. Mapping The Maze I feel like this cycle is doing something cool, but I feel like the blue one is the only one that's actually elegant.

Mordor's Cube (The Ship of Theseus)

Ah, ok, I wasn't aware that you were drawing a distinction between faction-specific mechanics and broader set-defining mechanics - I'll confess that that seems a little arbitrary to me, but I feel like you and I approach mechanics differently. I definitely hear you on being stuck with OTJ's...

That particular gesture actually doesn't have a formal name, as far as I can tell, so that's as good a name as any. Ironically, the Orthodox version of the gesture is literally "jesus hands", since it's supposed to look like the Greek initials for "Jesus Christ".

Also keep in mind that you're not required to have an even color distribution. Two ideas spring to mind: Take your green section ({G}{G}{G}{G}) and replace it with one pack for each of the green Guilds ({G/W}{G/U}{B/G}{R/G}). Take one pack of each non-black color ({R}{G}{W}{U}) and replace...

Thanks! On a less shitpost-y note, I feel like we're all overthinking how to manage the fixing here (probably because we've got that good fixing addiction). If you've got a twenty pack set-up with two packs of each color and one of each color pair and add in a rule where people can swap one of...

Mordor's Cube (The Ship of Theseus)

I 100% agree with your general point in this post, but the list feels weirdly mixed. You've got solid magic-y mechanics like Plot and Powerstones that are in the same boat as Forecast and Prowl (where they're cool and feel like Magic... but just don't have the card pool for higher-power formats)...
