General (SNC) Streets of New Capenna Previews

Sorry for the double post but HEY, it's time for my favorite card of the set so far! Comparable to Scrapheap Scrounger in a lot of ways, but I really like drawing the card from recasting this sexy sexy man from the 'yard, especially instead of exiling my other creatures. I wish it was a...

General (SNC) Streets of New Capenna Previews

Would you rather have this or Benalish Marshal? I like the flexibility in mana cost of this cycle enough that the three pips aren't precluding them automatically like they did with the poor Marshall, who I think is the stronger card on the field. I like that it triggers off attack, it works...

It's only the second time a creature has had all three of those abilities after this guy: Spark Trooper It's this kind of card that makes me excited to play Standard tbh

The mana symbols thing is KILLING me. Anyways, to take it back to an earlier post I made on this thread, this is the kind of 3-colored card I like. It slots into plenty of already-existing strategies (there's a pretty good Jund token deck supported, for example), but it's also a one-card...

Wow, love her! Good art, good name, good creature type, pseudo-evasion, card advantage, more treasure tokens? Fantastic package overall. Too bad I can't imagine anything in my red 3s that I can imagine replacing Bonecrusher Giant Feldon of the Third Path Goblin Rabblemaster Imperial...

I agree, but organizing it this way let me fit two more graveyard-centric slots in green I was having trouble justifying before while skipping out on Jund and Bant cards that I wasn't feeling too strongly. I was planning on switching them back with this set. Black Mulldrifter with flash...

This is the longest we've made it into spoiler season without any clear inclusions for my cube (not counting the tri-lands that were previewed very early), but I'm really digging the vibes here. As an entertainment industry professional who watches too many movies, I can happily say with...

it's the curse of a magic player that the cards that have 3 differentiate 10/10 pieces of art aren't interesting enough to want to cube with

    General Secret Lair Spoilers

All the card art is too big to let me upload here without doing too much work for the middle of the workday, but I did go through the effort for the Magali Villeneuve set, which I think is exceptional. Definitely looking to include most, if not all of these, in my cube. Mother of Runes is a...

Left handed cards. April Fool's Day joke? Yes. Real? Also yes.

General (SNC) Streets of New Capenna Previews

I don't agree. My tension is from the excitement and novelty that comes with a new fun card being spoiled vs. my experience knowing how similar cards have fared in my cube. I have more fun cubing when I'm able to play the cards I draft, and when I pick up a spicy three-color card that opens up a...

General (SNC) Streets of New Capenna Previews

On one hand, Maestros Charm is the kind of Magic card I like to play with most, and want desperately to cube with it. On the other hand, I've started to remove utility / generic cards from even my guild slots, so having a utilitarian card be my sole Grixis representation instead of a sweet...

General (CLB) Magic: The Gathering: Commander Legends: Dungeons and Dragons: Battle for Baldur's Gate Previews. Even the NAME is long this time!

Mildly excited for this set. I'm entirely agnostic to D&D aesthetics, characters, and abilities, but Commander Legends was cool. Actually, looking it up...the only card I'm still playing from CMR was Hullbreacher, and it looks like I'm not alone. Originally read Ancient Brass Dragon as though...

    General Alchemy

I still think it's a bit smudgy all the same, even the large art version looks like it's missing the last 15% or so, factoring in feedback from the art director that took this set off or something. All the same, it's a great piece of art, which is a nice change of pace for Alchemy. For a game...

General [Lucky Paper] Cube Power Level: A Users' Guide

I love it. This is exactly the conversation I have (or at least, try to have) with folks when they're building their first cube, or when they're interested in the design philosophy of mine. I especially like the clarity with which you wrote out the advantages of higher and lower power. It's...

Would I cube this if it were a real card? Yeah, probably. Man, the art feels so...unfinished? It's such a big gap from the art direction of the main set.

    General Alchemy

There was a half million dollar tournament this weekend that I went out of my way to try caring about without any success because the cards are all fake. Funnily enough, the winning deck was a Venture deck! Turns out you only need to turn the knob on a few cards to get there. Can I say that it's...

    General Fight Club

Going to "third" Epicure -- if Kamigawa didn't give me two other red one-drops I'm more interested in testing out, I would've forced it into my mid-to-high-powered cube. It's an excellent piece of cardboard.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I originally had planned on running Thousand-Faced Shadow and even had considered putting it in for Sakashima's Student, but the circumstances where you want to copy 1) a creature you control 2) a creature you control that's attacking and 3) a creature you control that's attacking with a second...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I love it and don't want to ever cut it. Been running it since it was first printed. The WCS of it being a clone is not embarrassing, but typically you get to do your normal ninja shenanigans and may even get a sweet ETB that can mess with combat even more. Delightful little thing.
