    General [STX] Strixhaven Spoilers

I think the MDFCs are not executed well in Strixhaven for sure. Having two modes already makes them complex and then the ones here are super wordy on top of that. Not to mention few of them seem to have any thematic connections between the two sides. Hopefully Wizards does better with their...

From the stream, spirits are the "mascot" creature for Lorehold, so yeah I'd expect to see a decent number in that color.

FWIW, I much prefer top-down design that borrows from real world mythology and even pop culture over trying to make a world from scratch. The only interesting things from Mirrodin to me are the Myr and the 5 suns and the latter is really only used on one cycle. But everyone has their own tastes!

    General [STX] Strixhaven Spoilers

Lorehold Apprentice is weird because it uses an ability word that scales across multiple triggers but in practice only the first trigger matters (barring corner cases where you flash in extra spirit tokens). Obviously they do it this way so it shares the same base mechanic, but it does read...

Do you not like the concept or the execution? Because honestly, I'm surprised it's taken almost 30 years to have a dedicated Magic School set.

If I wanted to house-rule lessons, I'd let people Hearthstone draft them when they cast a Learn spell. i.e. - you get to see 3 random Lessons from a special Lesson Deck and can pick one or use your rummage

I'm not a fan of 4c Omnath. It's four colors, swingy, and overly wordy.

    Sets [KHM] Kaldheim Official Previews

I’m not seeing the Effigy an aggro card. It’s not attacking until turn 4 regardless of how you cast it. And at that point a vanilla 2/3 is not exciting.

It seems very swingy, in a not-fun way. But I've not played with it much personally, so could be wrong!

    Sets [KHM] Kaldheim Official Previews

I actually think they're all pretty low power given the expensive and color-intensive activation costs and coming into play tapped. I'd much rather run cycling lands or the new Zen MDFC lands over any of these.

There's no one weird trick other than to just limit the number of tokens your cube needs. You just have to be judicious with your token makers. Among the cards you listed there are some easy substitutes you could make. Crested Herdcaller -> Bestial Menace reduces your token needs by 2 on its...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

The true Unholy Strength experience is playing with a beat up Revised copy. You have to be sure to hide it under other cards when your friend's mom walks by because she'll confiscate it for being "devil worship." Or use a 4th Edition copy and use a Sharpie to draw in the pentagram that was...
