General Aesthetics Debate Club: Optimizing Art in Cube (Daily!)

Rob Alexander on dual land art is awesome because he also has that awesome Underground Sea art from the very beginning. That Temple Garden art was also the first shockland spoiled for what turned out to be an exciting block overall. The shocks were shocking when they were spoiled. I wasn't...

Sets (WOE) Wilds of Eldraine Spoilers

It would be cool if all the manlands had some archetype support. Give UB or BG the Noose Constrictor ability, give RB the Nantuko Husk ability, give UR a loot on combat damage to player, or maybe prowess, and so on. It's nice that BW has lifegain... the previous one did as well, so whatever I...

General Aesthetics Debate Club: Optimizing Art in Cube (Daily!)

Cool series! Ponder was a great choice for the latest vote. I like the M10 since I prefer to use the most well known art, and I prefer art that explains the card. I also like art that isn't specific to a plane when I can get it. I might go with one of the Commander versions that use the newer...

    General Non-Creature Artifact Tokens

I would just make the blood token unconditional. You don't have to kill a creature to draw blood. Usually it will make more flavor sense to create the blood than than not to, so keep it simple.

    General After Full Set Reveal

I like to look at new cards, so I understand the flurry of activity during those times. However, the type of content that I enjoy the most is the theory crafting / philosophical stuff. Cube content would be more interesting for me if the content creators would break out of the habit of creating...

General Major change to Standard: Cards rotate slower

Of course you're completely right. Players hate it when they invest in cards and then the cards get banned, and I can't blame them. I'm not investing chunks of cash into a competitive deck - rather, I have played MTGO / MTGA and experimented with a variety of decks, and if something gets banned...

General Major change to Standard: Cards rotate slower

I actually wish they could have stuck to their previous plan of having the same number of sets in Standard all the time by way of rotating one out every time one rotates in. I like more rotations since it provides more shakeups to allow different decks to emerge. My preferences would just make...

Please, keep making fun of these mashups. I love it. I will see what I can contribute. Edit: Edit 2 and then I'll stop:

General (ONE) Phyrexia: All will be One Testing/Includes Thread

That one did catch my eye. I find it the +1/+1 bonus on a 2/1 creature to be kind of weak since it still dies to most things in combat and it trades with 3/2 creatures with or without the buff. But it might be worth the while. (I like Swooping Lookout, too.)

General (ONE) Phyrexia: All will be One Testing/Includes Thread

These two cards appeal to my simple tastes: Chrome ProwlerBlazing Crescendo I would have hoped for a nice generic artifact payoff or two, but the ones from this set are all so weak that even I am not interested in them.

Sets (ONE) Phyrexia: All Will Be One Previews

I just wish every product didn't have to be a commander product, and I wish every standard set didn't have to invent three new mechanics. Those two factors give us a lot of crap text on cards that soil the designs of otherwise nice cards.

    General CBS

The main benefit I had in mind was that you could more easily interact with your opponent's cards if there wasn't an enchantment type that most decks can't touch. I think that would make Oblivion Rings more interesting, for example. As they are now, they could usually just be a sorcery that...

What happens if you replace every instance of the words "artifact" and "enchantment" with "artifantment?" Does it make MTG better for cubing?

To find burn spells with "any target" instead of "target creature or player" you can search for cards printed at least as recently as 2018. c:r o:"damage to any target" (t:instant or t:sorcery) year>=2018

General Macroarchetype Cube or: Who's the Beatdown Cube

I think a person building this sort of cube would want to think carefully about what sort of aggro they want to support. The aggro decks in this sort of a cube can be aggressive shades of mid-range, right? As long as you give your aggressively minded drafters the opportunity to be the beatdown...

General (BRO) The Brother's War Spoilers

It's nice to see green getting in on artifacts more and more in recent years. Being the "we hate artifacts" color has been a downer for green in the past. Making a cube with an artifact theme across all five colors is more and more possible. I think the card selection is still a little spotty in...
