I think the fact that you don't get it for a little bit is ok. 4 mana is a much easier initial investment than 6, and casting non creature spells is a big upside. Do like the thought that it helps the big spell deck. Wonder what sorta sac engine can be set up to help this puppy out...

Yeah that's a great point. Jason definitely should include it in the E Domain cube. Now that I think about it, this probably only needs to go off once to be fully paid for. Looking at similar effects: see the Unwritten Summoning trap 4 mana for thus sort of effect, and any type of castable...

Yeah, I'm just trying to think about how often this can go off realistically in a game. Just realized that it's an excellent card with wildfire

That is awesome! Enjoy your first GP :D How easy is it to get 6 permanents in your GY? I think if I dip my cube's toes into energy, it'll be on a swingy and fun effect, like this one:

If you are going to make all your arguments based on multiple different semantics, why are we still at this? We can similarly go back to the beginning of your half of the argument to look into exact verbiage (even though that matters far less than some people think): Now you seem to have...

I literally wish I did not have the energy to 'advance' this discussion, which we aren't. I just can't handle the number of assumptions being thrown around, and the narrowness of semantics. My tempo, based on the actual Theory of Everything from magic's origin: 'a resource you start without...

I honestly don't know what to say any more... Recouping tempo is tempo advantage. You are gaining relative to your opponent the ability for the two decks to kill each other. Destroying more than one of their cards for your one card is card advantage. You've spent relatively fewer cards than...

I think I'll be running the Blue and White Gearhulks for now. My black section is already plenty stacked, so I don't think I've got a home for the Black Gearhulk. Same for the Green one. The red one is... interesting. Not sure how to evaluate it, to be honest. I do think it's one of the more...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Lorwyn block brought on the New World Order, so yes it literally did change the game.

Spell decks don't need to be 'true control'. Modern has tons of spell decks, just not that one (even though it does have those too). I don't see how that invalidates the supposition that spell decks aren't as suppressed as is being stated. Are you guys really lamenting the lack of true control...

    Sets [KLD] Kaladesh Spoilers Thread

I can think of at least three very competitive spell based decks in this very standard. I think the yawning chasm between these two styles is not as big as all that, even today, and even in constructed. Modern makes the comparison even better, because spells definitely provide a wide array of...

Imho, non-creature spells are almost by nature less interactive than creatures. Most accomplish one task, and nothing exciting happens while its on the stack to resolved except that effect. Creatures offer more interactivity almost simply by the fact that they attack and block, while...

Onderzeeboot's Khans of Alara WUBGR Cube

Individual card question! If I remember correctly you were/are a big fan of this card: rise from the tides How has this worked out for you? I'm watching LSV use it to good effect in a retail draft right now, and it seems pretty sweet and fun

I really like this card. Its probably too inconsistent to be good, and the wheel effect isn't a 'may', but it's still awesome. Solid 'combo' potential with stuff like life from the loam and Delve. Not quite sure how to evaluate it power level wise, tbh. This card seems awesome! Cheap...

    Sigh, a Cube

I don't have a lot of time to test, so I probably end up using the crutch of theory more than some. Not ideal, but it is what it is. Part of the problem of testing in the way described is that I'd have to know what I want to keep! I want all of it! It's more like what does the format need to...

    Sigh, a Cube

Thanks for the draft! I am at work so I can't break anything down in detail, hopefully tonight. Do you have any immediate examples of what you are seeing of each extreme? I'm guessing SS is on that funzies side. I dunno, safra ran/runs it so that's gotta mean something?

Hadn't even thought about how it incentives other artifacts beyond mana. The Crystal Ball and Trading post look even more attractive when they can ramp out a 10/10. Nice! That self mill card does look very cool. Very interesting way for any color to interact with the gy towards the end of...

This is crazy! You can cast it on curve the turn after a Hedron Archive. And it interacts with the Graveyard?? I'm in. Unless it's too good... not sure about that. Great Daretti target, and generic reanimator target too, if only for the ginormous body. This card is sweet.
