I think I like your version better for balance purposes to be honest. I tried "{T}: Create a Treasure." as the only ability on a {3} mana custom before, and making a free treasure every turn is really, really good. I wouldn't add three other modes to that in a million years.

My gut says yes as well. Not in the sense that it would break Vintage, but too efficient for most cubes, except those with a particularly low curve.

The context of the activation costs does matter, actually! This is a hard one to answer though, since the tokens aren't three mana apart in value, and Cylix of Creation costs 2 mana up front itself... Pfff... rough. My gut says {0} Blood > {1} Treasure > {2} Food > {3} Clue, and here's why...

I think Treasures are still really good in a slow environment, because mana is exactly the thing you are starved for in a slower environment. Getting that finisher out one or two turns earlier, or being able to cast two spells in a single turn instead of one is huge. Edit: If it helps, imagine...

I don't think it's specifically Kamigawa-flavored. It's just a happy overlap between the Japanese art for the special Strixhaven Archive and the Japanese-inspired setting for Kamigawa.

You don't snowball into a win, necessaril, but all of those creatures grow to decidedly above curve for most cubes here. Not all though.

Renown blows because it's a "suck or snowball" mechanic. It only rewards you if you're winning (on board).

WotC are very aware of the limited number of iconic one word names available nowadays, so they tend to reserve those for either bread and butter spells they will reuse a lot, or for very evocative and/or iconic spells. Just take a look at all the one-word names that were first printed in 2021...
