Eh, one of those is a lot better when you aren't interacting. Courser does nothing when people are just racing to 8 mana. If you're coming at it from a vintage cube perspective I can see it.

I will say I wouldn't pretend biogenic ooze has any synergy components to it. It's powerful enough that you get into proliferate the jitte territory

Does "Fair" include countering removal spells? Portal was maligned in its limited format since you can't use it as dive down unless they walk into your onboard trick. I don't know if that's a bug or a feature for you
