Scales is good when it works. I found it interesting when it was essentially an anthem where your creatures just etb 1 bigger, but it felt a lot less necessary or fair when it was doubling up on Ajani Goldmane activations or Volt charges or frequent triggers for counters like Vinelasher Kudzu...

I think it does what you'd probably want an X spell to do. While it's (Almost always) better than braingeyser, that's not saying a lot. Untap X lands would be the only change I might make, which could be a nerf but also could make the card more interesting, if you've got bouncelands or mana...
