Arbor Elf, Farseek (both Magic 2013) and Murder (Eldritch Moon) partly disagree that it has been that long, but yes, certain effects have certainly been watered down on average during the last six-ish years. I wouldn't get my hopes up for good countermagic though :p

Ignorant Bliss is actually quite decent as a surprise hellbent enabler that cycles. It's also pretty cute tech against discard spells. Psychotic Fury is a decent combat trick, and Smash is a usually a good sideboard card, though there aren't really many must kill artifacts in your cube, so...

I thought you were worried the velcro closure wouldn't be strong enough :) I doubt the box is waterproof, not specifically because of the velcro, but because it has a lid that doesn't seal on the sides. Even with a (strong) magnet lid this box probably wouldn't be waterproof.
