I just run two Cloudfin Raptors as my aggressive blue one-drop of choice. It's been pretty awesome so far!

I am sad that it's a 3/3 that deals 2 when cycled. I'm a sucker for aligning stuff like that. What would the cycle cost be on deal 3 damage, gain 3 life? {3}{b}{b}? I think I like your suggestion of dealing damage better than losing life.

That is super cool, really out of white's color pie, and uncubable as printed. Of course the oracle text is much more reasonable, but I personally hate cards that are this blatantly not WYSIWYG.

It would definitely not be a strictly better version of Seachrome Coast, as you can't play it after you played your third land. I like the current wording however and I already printed the proxies :)

Well... Rightfully so I would say. They are pretty much the antithesis of western society. Also, ISIS itself is the greatest fearmonger, what with their recorded beheadings.

It hits everything everything though, and plays into themes on other black removal spell does. Plus, Magic games tend to be more interesting if the removal isn't much cheaper than the creatures. It's why I only run a single Path to Exile, and no Swords to Plowshares anymore.

Also, bear in mind that seeing both hands gives you information the players don't have. A large part of the appeal of Magic is in the hidden information. Take that away and suddenly the game becomes a lot more straightforward.

I was playing against the AI (google MtG Forge), and seeing the other decks I think the packs were just particularly dry. My second draft went a bit better (Skeletal Vampire rules), though there's still a lot of chaff in the boosters. It's funny to see how drastically they cut back on garbage...

Draining Whelk is one of my favorite Magic cards. It was pretty good in my Awakening deck ;) I think there's a lot of difference between a counterspell and a control magic effect though.
