    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

The game itself was actually pretty fun. The board got clogged because both people were making 3+ creatures per turn, but both of us were doing so much to find what we needed in order to break through that it felt more like an arms race than a staring contest.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

That's exactly how it plays! If you happen to be in a situation where your opponent has a wider board than you, it's totally possible to just blow up everything and still come out ahead. You would just save that specific use case for when you're losing. It's pretty rare someone will have more...

General (BRO) The Brother's War Testing/Includes Thread

The best part of this set might unironically be the fact that Mishra's Bauble is going to be effectively an uncommon in a $4 booster set, meaning that I can get a playset of the real card for less than $60. We could be looking at $2 baubles at some point in the near future for the first time in...

Oh look, literal Shield Counters. Not quite the same, but basically the same.

A lot of Chris's older cards have actually aged really well! This one is lore relevant... And I might steal these two:

General Macroarchetype Cube or: Who's the Beatdown Cube

I don't think viewing a macro-archetype focused cube as a "cards not decks" design in 2022 is really going to lead to the design outcomes you're looking for if I'm understanding your goals correctly. In many ways, supporting the macro archetypes well is the purest form of decks-not-cards design...

Big fan of this. I love modal cards. This is both a nice early game play and a potential finisher, plus it's an artifact creature that places counters.

If you're filling the graveyard it's a nice bonus. It basically draws you a card in that case.

General Macroarchetype Cube or: Who's the Beatdown Cube

I really like this idea– it would let you help balance the scales between aggro and midrange while playing a number of cool midrange threats that don't see Cube inclusion as often as more popular options. The biggest issue you would need to contend with is figuring out how these cards will beat...

General Macroarchetype Cube or: Who's the Beatdown Cube

Based and Gingerpilled. More fixing is still nice though to help with spellcasting consistency. You could cut some of those basics then and play more spells (which is pretty helpful in a deck with 8 one-drops... those cards can become just as dead as a land in the late game depending on the...

According to MaRo, Evidently, they didn't use the Bolas' Citadel tech in these decks to feel more retro. Personally, I like the retro artifact frame with a colored text box for colored artifacts, but I think this decision is also understandable. Re: Sanwell–

General Macroarchetype Cube or: Who's the Beatdown Cube

While I don't think these goals are at odds, some colors are intrinsically better at doing certain things than others. Creating an environment where every color can equally contribute to each macro-archetype might get in the way of creating the best possible play experience for the first goal...
