    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Someone else on these boards recently reminded me of Alpha Orcish Oriflamme: I just added one to my cube yesterday.

    General Fixing Mulligans, Improving Games

This is why I think "throw back X of your choice" would work best. It's only a one-shot deal so it's difficult to exploit, and likely has a better chance of correctly proportioning your hand than most other mulligan systems. It would probably make for better games, too, since you can choose to...

    General Fixing Mulligans, Improving Games

I think this is the correct way to look at it. The person on the draw basically gets to be the person on the play for one turn of their choice.

    General Fixing Mulligans, Improving Games

What about using Hearthstone mulligan rules? Choose X cards and throw them back for new ones one time. There used to be a thread about dealing with "who goes first," and I remember someone suggested using Hearthstone rules there as well: the player going second always starts with a bonus Lotus...

General What low-power themes would you explore, time permitting?

I tried drafting Slivers last M15 draft and it was a disaster. I actually found them to be fairly weak in their own except for the deathtouch one. The white one seems decent but it's pretty expensive to cast. I wish there was at least one more common sliver in each color. I was also pretty...

    Sets [M15] Magic 2015 Spoilers

Yeah the quad green can be a bit of a pain, though my cube purposely funnels people closer to 2-3 colors. I do highly enjoy its evoke.

Card/Deck Kill it with fire (let's talk removal)

Has anyone tried Bile Blight? Seems fit for those who hate army-in-a-can cards. (looking at Jason)

Why would the queen's presence grant deathtouch? Their venom suddenly becomes impotent when she dies? [/flavorpolice] As far as spiders go, I only run one. Cloudthresher

General What low-power themes would you explore, time permitting?

Combat tricks, graveyard stuff, madness, suspend. Could slivers ever work? I remember them being kinda interesting in Time Spiral, but seem pretty poisonous potentially, obv. Maybe you could squadron some...?

I don't mind the Wave shenanigans either, but they haven't come up all too often anyway. On its own, the card does provide a lot of interesting decisions to make, especially with so many ETB abilities to potentially reuse on your own side.

Another interpretation of what Lucre said is to think of Thragtusk as a test of whether or not your aggro decks are interesting.

    General Revisiting "Squadroning"

That's exactly the reason why I DO squadron Satyr. It's a somewhat narrow card and would frequently be a 14th pick otherwise. I would also argue that he doesn't have to be mono-red. I think he fits into most 2-color super-fast aggro builds, though I still consider that to be somewhat narrow...

    General Revisiting "Squadroning"

Squadroning has been a success over here. I did overdo it a bit at first, though. A few of them are to condense aggro picks and the rest are cards that really need at least two copies to build around. Here are my double-picks currently: Steppe Lynx Ajani's Pridemate Phantasmal Bear Gnarled...

Sets [KTK] Khans of Tarkir Spoilers

It's not super common, but there are twenty or so cards that reference the stack. Re: Loyal Cathar. Though what I suggested is very similar, it would create interesting gameplay since you don't know what you're killing. In Onslaught, the face-up effects always produced some positive effect...

Sets [KTK] Khans of Tarkir Spoilers

You could add, "when this card is turned face up, put it onto the stack." Another idea that could be interesting: when ~ dies, if it was face down, put it into the battlefield face up.

Sets [KTK] Khans of Tarkir Spoilers

I'm assuming this will be there: Zoetic Cavern One of my favorite mechanics from Hearthstone is Secret, and this seems like the perfect time to co-opt it into Magic, through Morph. I hope to see trap-like zero-cost turn-face-up triggers, and I hope to see 2/2's morphing into enchantments...

    General CBS

Do you think non-errata Chaos Orb is no fun? We've had no problems with it here. Speaking of Trading Post, someone in our last draft built a fun 2-1 deck combining the two. On "topic": everyone loves a new format and new cards. Just look at your local pre-release...who knows where all these...
