i’m always a big fan of early game drops that become late game mana sinks. Figure and Warden are the most interesting to me, but Hexdrinker is probably the best.

I think Conquering Manticore is a very cool card, but it lends itself most readily to aggro decks and sacrifice decks, as opposed to being a good control finisher. Shivan Dragon is probably my favorite control finisher of that list, but may i also suggest: Flameblast Dragon Hellkite Charger...

Something to note on these is that if your cube has red as a discarding color, the base casting cost does not matter, only the recursion cost. In that sense, Flamewake gets yet another plus.

i like the ferocious one’s rez timing better, but the lightning phoenix has an easier time coming back since burn can trigger it.

yeah, i think maybe it’s better to embrace the chaos a bit than to worry too much about exact numbers for an archetype. if you put a cool card or three in that support it, someone will probably build it into their deck and enjoy it!
