I really wish WotC would hurry up and bring back proliferate. It's probably the best "counters matter" payoff mechanic and there aren't that many cards with it. :(

The new Bushwhacker is also worse as a topdeck when hellbent on spells. I like Lightning Mauler and even Crimson Mage more than it.

I like Shoulder to Shoulder as a way for white-based beatdown decks to combine value with card parity. More incidental "counters matter" enablers is welcome as well. The Surge Inspiration/Divination is more interesting than good, but it does pique my curiosity.

Is there any format/archetype where Final Fortune is playable/interesting?

    FlowerSunRain's Cube

I'm pretty sure Tibalt would be fine with your change. Either they have creatures, in which case his loyalty should be threatened, or they won't and the insurrection effect won't matter much.

My cube! - http://www.cubetutor.com/viewcube/251 Draft it! - http://www.cubetutor.com/draft/251 Non-power max 390 card peasant cube designed to hopefully create interesting choices in draft and gameplay. I've definitely looked at some of the ideas and cubes around here to draw inspiration (the...

    Spotlight: other cubes?

wtwlf's cube is probably the most well-known powered cube from MTGS. If you were looking to build the MTGO Vintage Cube offline or just want a curated power-max singleton environment, his cube is probably what I'd recommend to start with as a template.

Crumbling Vestige has the upside of being a common for Peasant and Pauper based cubes. It's probably even more valuable there because of the general lack of untapped fixing for aggressive decks.

Keep in mind there aren't really "small" draft sets anymore going forward. They have more cards so that they're closer to being medium sized and now contribute two packs to their draft format instead of just one. It seems likely that second sets will or at least can branch away from their parent...

General How to make white aggro not suck.

To be clear, I wasn't trying to pick a fight, it's just that NWO has a specific meaning in Magic design and expanding the definition to include other stuff confuses more than it explains - at least for me. I agree with making the gap between aggro and control bigger and more explicit. I'd start...

General Limiting on-board PWs by limiting PW types

Not that this never happens, but it's definitely a low probability corner case unless you're drafting your entire 360 cube with a full pod every time. If your goal is to limit on-board PWs in your games, you should probably just cut down the total number of them in your cube.

Sure I can agree with that. The inclusion of false choices or trap options doesn't increase actual variety in gameplay.

    General CBS

Valuing variety is a casual player stance? I'd say if anything the longer I play Magic the more I desire variety, but maybe (likely) I'm just a big weirdo.

I'm contemplating making a cube where everything can be "cast" in some useful form for 3 mana or less. Obvious go-to mechanics would include things like morph, cycling, convoke, etc. I'd also plan on using a lot of cantrips to generally increase card velocity. Laz's draw-a-card cube is where I...

Random idea of the day: rebels count as allies and vice versa. Obviously, this would still have the drawbacks of tribal in terms of being a bit parasitic, but I think it could also open up some neat plays as well as expand rebels outside of white and a touch of black. Wasn't there someone else...

    Sets Battle for Zendikar Spoilers

My guess is because green and red are already the landfall color pair for limited, a mechanic that is even more directly tied to lands than awaken. Awaken makes a decent amount of sense in blue because it's a color of transformation, but it does feel a bit forced in white (at least it plays well...
