I'd say give the Exemplars a go. It absolutely fits Wx Control and needs spells to be casted to shine, which is quite desirable as that means more interaction. Just wish it would get vigilance instead of first strike sometimes, as first strike makes the card even better vs aggro.

Maybe you need more board wipes? Tokens is very similar to +1/+1 counters: very easy to support, goes well into a lot of themes, but also can get overwhelming quickly.
