    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I run it and like it! It's a fun payoff for doing things like playing Faithless Looting.

Maybe I just had a weird batch? Mine definitely didn't smell like mtg cards, more like damp gym socks stuck in a plastic bag overnight.

General (MAT) March of the Machine Aftermath Previews

That's dope. It's a lot of text but with that it's a windmill slam for sure as it fits into the space of being hard to deal with but not unkillable.

This may just be a me problem, but I find that cards from MPC both reek of something like BO and irritate my fingertips for some reason. They're fantastic once sleeved, but I cannot fathom handling them unsleeved. This may just be me, though, so take it with a grain of salt.

General (MAT) March of the Machine Aftermath Previews

There's some good stuff in here, but so far I'm interested in almost none of it. The one exception is Ayara's Oathsworn, a ?/? (Probably 1/1, unfortunately) (Onderzeeboot confirmed it as a 2/2, which is great news!) for {1}{B} with menace that gains a +1/+1 counter when it connects with a player...

    Highball: Legacy of the Rails

Lmao, love the implications of this typo. Agreed that Nettlecyst is very strong and that two is likely egregious here. I've found one to be borderline in my own midpower cube.

Thragtusk has the fewest words by a fairly large margin and the most interesting edge cases.

General Wishlist for MH3 Archetypes: What’s Yours?

I agree intellectually that keeping sets mechanically distinct is important, but I'd rather seem some "honorary evergreen" mechanics like Surveil, Cycling, Madness, etc. made officially evergreen rather than have to suffer through things Kogla and Yidaro trying very very hard to not have the...

General Wishlist for MH3 Archetypes: What’s Yours?

Delirium again! It missed the mark a little bit in MH2 apart from DRC, but it's always an interesting puzzle. Cycling doesn't need mechanical support, it's just good on it own. Needs more cards, though Dash is another fun puzzle. Adventure just needs more good cards. Seconding Retrace and...

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

I imagine that you can go infinite with Fentwig in some way. That's a good thing; I like my aggro 2/1s for 1 to have uses outside of aggro decks. Blossoming courage is an interesting one in that it really changes how an opponent has to time their spells. If you have other free/free-ish spells...

Hey mods, can we lock this thread? It's generated some good discussion, but it's been almost a week since we should have moved on to the April of the Machines thread.

Sets (MoM) April of the Machines Previews

Sac cards that don't suck!! This looks like a fun middle ground. Mmm, green cantrips. This is almost Mental Note+? I'm always a fan of colors other than blue getting these options, and now it seems like green has half a dozen good options to choose from. Edit: Masterful Ninja'd. Now...

Sets (LTR) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth

Book thread book thread book thread Fantasy is hard to recommend because a lot of it is genuinely crap, much more so than SF. That said, I'll throw the following ones into the ring: Redwall by Brian Jacques (echoing Bootman, it's nothing groundbreaking but it is heartwarming, kind of like Game...

Sets (MoM) April of the Machines Previews

Sorry to double-post, but they fixed Lethal Scheme and I couldn't be happier! That card was super dumb in execution, but the idea was definitely worth salvaging. Lethal Scheme The art isn't nearly as cool, but that's the price you gotta pay for balance, I guess.

Sets (MoM) April of the Machines Previews

I squared this circle by envisioning it not as "attacking the battle" but as "attacking the opposing side's creatures within the battle/contributing their prowess to the battle." But I agree, they're very clunky cards and I'll only run them if they're sweet enough on their own merits (which...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I run the Prowler and can attest that a surprising number of decks are actively happy to see this show up as their 13th pick. Solid B- level card. It also plays really nicely with equipment and any auras you might run.

Sets (MoM) April of the Machines Previews

Why did 3 mana get all the good cards this time around? This one is a lot of text but it seems pretty reasonable, all things considered. At any rate it forces you to think a lot to get maximum value out of it and it's doing something new for UR within the spellslinger slot, so I'll be jamming...

Sets (MoM) April of the Machines Previews

I'm pumped for these, tbh. The combat step is by far the most interesting part of the game outside of the stack, and these create some neat decisions. I wonder if these are going to be better in midrange decks or if we might get funky creature-based control decks out of them. Is Invasion of New...
