Steelshaper’s Gift’s price is a combination of EDH play and the fact that it sometimes is used in Hammer Time decks in Modern. Granted, the use of the card in competitive applications has decreased significantly since Stoneforge Mystic was unbanned, but people who have then still use them sometimes.
