The flavor is that they needed the card to make a token when you exiled it and the 1/1 unblockable fish was the best choice. It's a bit anti-climactic, I know :(.

That's nice to hear! I had Priest of Ancient Lore in my Tazri, Beacon of Unity brawl deck when AFR was first released and I ended up cutting it because the card was a huge underperformer. I'm glad to hear it has been better in other contexts!

Yeah it's frustrating because the card itself is super simple: the first thing you cast with treasure each turn has cascade, but it takes like half a paragraph to spell it out within the black border rules.
