I mean I basically always ask for a second set of eyes when I need numbers help, and a ton of the cards I make is explicitly cards wotc wouldn't make, so I feel very personally attacked right now :P

A lot of the good ideas for artifact centric drafting hinge quite heavily on colored artifacts though. Drafting gets weird when your best cards are colorless

Part of it comes from the difficulty of a purely creature less deck. A deck where every card is built for pyromancers goggles might have trouble winning on its own, and you'd need to get creative, or run an imagined 40 lightning bolts. Jamming your deck full of green creatures is a natural...
