My first rares were Nightmare and Underworld Dreams from the "Dead Again" starter deck. The former is still in my cube and has had a huge impact on it's design, uncluding the lower, casual like power level and the support for mono color.

Really good and close, it was the 9th Edition core set, just a few weeks before Ravnica: City of Guilds hit the shelves. But the very first card I've ever owned was a Moonbow Illusionist, which was a gift from another guy in my class after I watched them playing.

It costs zero to suspend though, being able to play a 1-drop alongside it is huge. Especially in a ramp shell.

I think the tribal on the captain is no problem, it works perfectly fine with itself. But yeah, if your power level can take it, the Angel is more interesting.

Has any one any experience in terms of mixing Classes with Sagas? I worry a bit about the confusion that these two, appearing in the same draft pool, might cause. Most of my players aren't very enfranchised if they are at all.

I wouldn't focus too heavily on the pair archetypes of your format. These older sets often had mono/pivot archetypes, which can be executed in such a way, that it can lead to a more interesting draft format. A mono {U} theme and a mono {B} theme can also sometimes be combined for a cool and...

I wanted to plsy Uyo before, but a 4/4 for 6 that you have to untap with and then have to play an instant or sorcery and then pay more mana to copy it, that's just too fragile even for the CCC.

Hm, I'm not sure. This hasn't come up in the one test I was able to play out so far. If this becomes an issue with some specific or even all quests, I would have to set an upper limit to each quest, so players wouldn't go on forever doing this. But maybe the option to concede will do the trick...
