I'm going to withold worldbuilding judgements until we see the set– I thought Duskmourn was going to be a mess but it ended up being one of the best new Planes in the past decade.
As for the symbol itself– I think it just clearly communicates what the set is about. I don't really think that's...
The more I've thought about this, I think UB in standard may actually be a good thing. It seems like the goal of the Foundations era is to refocus Magic away from Commander and back towards Standard. By making the UB stuff into Standard sets, it means we will be getting fewer cards that...
This comment aged well:
Detective's Phoenix
Glyph Elemental
Indebted Spirit
Nyxborn Hydra
Nyxborn Unicorn
Springheart Nantuko
Trickster's Elk
Triton Wavebreaker
I haven't had a chance to test most of these yet, but I am a big fan.
This is a testing/includes thread. Post pictures using /ci or a text list using /c with what cards you plan to include and what cards you plan to test.
Including:
Chainsaw
Fear of Missing Out
Rite of the Moth
Wildfire Wickerfolk
Curator Beastie
Including if I Open:
Blazemire Verge
Floodfarm...
As much as I think you're right about the character being UB I think the card is at least GWU or GWB (at least without pie bends). I also think it make flavorful sense for her to be the "rooms matter" legend since Duskmourn is basically just her house but big.
This is actually an interesting question because the first ability is very Green (impulse for a bunch of permanents of a specific type), but the room synergy is for an archetype that is primarily URbw (Green isn’t really a Room//Erie color in this set).
So… I think the answer might actually be...
It's not really a bend so much as a shift, Black has been allowed to remove enchantments (albiet at a worse rate than White and Green) for the past couple of years to help make enchantments easier to interact with and allow for the creation of sets like Duskmourn that heavily use enchantments...
Somewhere between Ancient Crab and Brushwagg. All of these cards are actually pretty good there!
Anointed Chorister
Young Blue Dragon
Catacomb Crocodile
Immerstrum Raider
Joraga Visionary.
These aren't like– the best cards or anything (the best cards include the likes of Serra Angel and Colossal...
Irreverent Gremlin
Wary Watchdog
Popular Egoist
Piranha Fly
Fanatic of the Harrowing
There are a lot of really cool cards for my Battle Box in this set. I'm impressed!
Split Up
Great art on a good card. Dominik Mayer really outdid himself this time! I am excited to give Split Up a try, although I am unsure of wether or not it makes the Cube before Cubecon.
