General [TMT] Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

I hadn't seen this one - from Commander deck, based on the symbol: Leonardo, Worldly Warrior Not anything groundbreaking, but I don't think we've had that large a body on a creature with this ability (rather than convoke) before, let alone double strike.

I'm on the UB hater train now (my views have evolved over time) but... if they give a single nonlegendary common Away Team creature the Cid, Timeless Artificer treatment with like 20+ different arts I will begrudgingly admit that they did good

General Archetype suggestions for a Lands Matter cube?

Which also makes it better with flicker effects because you end up having to pay so much echo! It wasn't an entirely unserious suggestion. I cubed it back in like 2010.

Ravenous Baboons yes, it's basically worse than Avalanche Riders but it's also baboons

Weekly MTG stream confirmed that this set is 2 cards larger than Spider-Man. Also, in 2026 we'll get 1,200 unique cards entering Standard across 7 sets, so there's at least one more small set. I'm not a fan.

it must be Bubbling Muck o'clock then too, not just Rain of Filth

Blossoming Tortoise Lavaclaw Reaches Now, that said, 1) it's three colors and 2) it's great and you should totally do it. Nobody ever gets to go off with Lavaclaw Reaches, it's sick! (afaik this is the only one - Reaches having an X ability that doesn't tap is unique among lands, let alone...

Yeah, and if your one-drop trades with their one-drop you have a 3/3 for 2. It's Goblin Grappler's time to shine!!!!! (not really) (but also it would be hilarious)

Not to toot my own horn - just have to set up the payoff post - but we established the phrase for this some sets ago: it's Proliferating the Jitte :marofl:

yeah, definitely cannot cast a land at any point ever (and this is why it still matters whether a card says "cast" or "play" on the various Reckless Impulses of the world) - it's weird because it doesn't actually break anything as far as I can tell, it just is a thing they've never bothered to...

excuse me you forgot Zoetic Cavern the Land That Is A Spell this is a joke obviously but I still had to post it e: I do actually like "card types among spells you've cast" as a theme, it's like Goyf but different, real interesting, I just don't like the 3U 1/5 rate

I usually agree with your opinions but I'm actually kind of a fan of finality counters. Give them ten more years to have existed forever (so people actually know what they mean) and I will have zero complaints! Other than that, your list of interested-if-they-weren't-so-ugly looks more or less...

April O'Neal, Hacktivist is #29, and certainly one of the first blue cards. For comparison with two recent sets, DSK's Abhorrent Oculus is #42 and SPM's Amazing Acrobatics is #25. Isn't "just" an artifact or gold heavy set, because DFT's Aether Syphon was #38 and SNC's All-Seeing Arbiter was...

slightly salty that if we're going to have mythic Leonardo being "Legendary Creature - Mutant Ninja Turtle Samurai" they didn't put "Villain" on the villain cards right after we had Villains-Matter cards in SPM but, you know, they're not gonna be in my cube, so it doesn't matter either way

Release date: March 6, 2026 Set codes: TMT (Standard legal), TMC (Commander deck), PZA (borderless full-art reprints like in Spider-Man) New Mechanics: Sneak is ninjutsu, except: 1) you cast the thing (thank god, it's counterable and also they put it on instants too and maybe other things) 2)...

You probably already knew most of these - I assume you didn't forget Esika's Chariot, for instance - but I figured I'd cast a wide net, as usual: Quina, Qu Gourmet Peregrin Took Audience with Trostani Bioengineered Future Oran-Rief, the Vastwood Esika's Chariot Jaheira, Friend of the Forest...

to be fair, FF was exactly my kind of slop, I'm part of the problem (also if you just filed the IP off of it and made it a normal universes within set with the same cards it'd be fun to draft, which I cannot say about the Spider-Man I've watched. a good set to draft imo. fun decks. It's weird, because I crave novelty (spoilers good) and I get tired of draft formats easily (new sets good), and even I, the shortest-attention-span man alive, was happy to see FF come back on Arena this past week. Let the sets breathe! Give us time to draft them!
