    General [CMR] Commander Legends Previews

I think this set could be a wellspring of cool new cards for Cube, but I'm currently most excited about the prerelease promo: I'm going to have to go out of my way to find a prerelease for this set specifically to get the version of this with the awesome old-school Pete Venters art.

    No Free Lunches, A Cube

Archfiend of Ifnir is not as easy to make work as Terror of the Peaks. If you test the card, I don't think you'll have issues with it. You're welcome. Building good cubes is hard so I try to share what I know with people whenever I can. As for Sirfunchalot, I'm not really sure what the...

    General Fight Club

I think Heirloom Blade is definitely the better choice. The main decks that want equipment like this are aggressive strategies. These decks want lower equip costs so they can chain multiple spells or abilities together in a turn. Loxodon Warhammer forces an aggro player to spend an entire turn...

    No Free Lunches, A Cube

I'm glad my post could be of help :) Archfiend of Ifnir only strafes the line of "too good" at lower power levels when there are lots of free discard outlets running around. Most of your discard outlets are either only able to be activated once, have some sort of cost attached to them, or can...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I wrote a big thing about equipment which talks a bit about these two old gems... Court Homunculus Toolcraft Exemplar ...and I was wondering if any of you have been playing them recently. I don't have enough artifacts to make them work enough to be satisfactory for my power level, but I think...

Equipment!! Grafted WargearStoneforge MysticSword of Dungeons & Dragons Now that Double Masters has been released, a bunch of the best "equipment matters" cards are getting reprints and becoming accessible for the first time in many years. Gone are the days of $75 Stoneforge Mystics and...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

When I look at your green 3 drops, Evolution Sage kind of pops out as being a bit bad. The card is middling in counters decks and middling everywhere else. Your 3-drop slot already has Rishkar, Peema Renegade, which is probably the best counters payoff that slot has to offer. I think you might...

    The Grand Odyssey

I wanted to stop by and say how nice this cube is looking, especially with the customs! That Ominous Sphinx flavor text is amazing! May I suggest just erattaing all of the cards which only care about cycling (Lightning Rift and Astral Slide being the two big ones) to just caring about discard...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

It's good you cut Oracle of Mul Daya, that card is very bad in most cubes. I think cutting The First Iroan Games is a bit of a mistake. That card is a great way for midrange green decks to apply early pressure and re-fuel their hands. While the card can sometimes be blanked by the opponents, I...

    No Free Lunches, A Cube

Zoss, Welcome to the forums! It's always nice to see some new faces around Riptide, especially when they seem to have good design chops as you do. I think this cube has a lot of cool concepts going on, and there looks to be a lot of strategic complexity when it comes to the gameplay side of...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Why not just... Demon of Catastrophes Demon of Catastrophes is a much better finisher for aggressive decks, since it can come down reasonably early and still hits just as hard. It also doesn't mess with the mana base as much since one doesn't need to reach 6 mana to cast it. Players...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

"Pretty Narrow" is an understatement. You basically need to be playing a green deck that wants to be playing big X-costed instants... a category of spells which just isn't very common in most cubes. Green/Blue flash-type decks can use it but even then I don't think it's that deck's best choice.

    General Optimizing my mana base

I think your best option is actually: 10 Fetches 20 Shocks 5 Ally Manlands 5 Enemy Horizon Lands 5 Triomes 5 Five-Color/Utility Lands (City of Brass, Mana Confluence, Prismatic Vista, Mutavault Etc.) The idea here is to keep the full Fetch/Shock mana base together while still including...

    General CBS

I think there are many individually good spirits, but not enough to support a real spirit tribal archetype. A couple of the tribal payoffs for spirits like Rattlechains, Mausoleum Wanderer and Nebelgast Herald could be used in supporting a blue-based tempo strategy. However, I don't think one...

Sets [2XM] Double Masters Spoilers- The Set That Makes Me Cry Tears Of Salt

No, actually that is what we're talking about. Smith just said they quit cubing back in 2015-16, and that they're having an easier time acquiring cards now than back then. It wasn't harder to get 2010 bulk cards in 2015 than it is to get 2015 bulk cards in 2020. However, it is much easier to...
