It's an expensive equip, but it'll turn most creatures into a threat to deal with I reckon and the ward helps offset the tempo hit of doing the equip

Sure. It's a card for a different cube probably, they're very different in power level.

Well you can also run cards like dryad's revival and memory's journey which allows the labman deck to stick to UG without any splash, permitting both UG and UB selfmill decks

You can do both, density of effect is good for a combo card like labman

For what it's worth shuffle effects do work well with aggressively self milling + laboratory maniac.
