Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

Other minor changes: Drana, Liberator of Malakir > Sedgemoor Witch Ritual of the Machine > God-Eternal Bontu I'm also adding this so I can test things but I am not happy at all with my green section: Rishkar, Peema Renegade Jadelight Ranger Thrashing Brontodon Empyrial Plate

I actually like that card. Perhaps not in cube, but I can see it being useful in constructed. Drawing a card on ETB is huge.

    General "Looking for a card"-Thread

Judith, the Scourge Dive is fantastic. It's an anthem and a sacrifice payoff for three mana. I like her a lot. Question: Is this good enough for my power level? Empyrial Plate I need another piece of equipment for 1 or 2 and this is much more interesting than Vulshok Morningstar.

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

I've been looking at some improvements. First I want to test these changes: Seismic Assault -> Molten Vortex Chainer's Edict -> Innocent Blood I've been a big advocate for Seismic Assault so why try Vortex? Well, I think Seismic is better for most cubes. If you are using Loam, you are better...

    My Pokémon cube

I just wanted to say that it's really cool to have this thread, makes me think I should work in my Netrunner cube soon!

Sets (AFR) Adventures in the Forgotten Realms Previews- Dripping with Flavor, and Excess Words!

Ah yeah, I was wondering about this guy. First, I just realized he only triggers once, unlike Edric, Spymaster of Trest. However, one is quite a lot and returning creatures may be strong in the right deck. What do you guys think of changing one for the other to free an UG slot?

But that's a terrible play. Think about it, why would your opponent block? If you attack for two turns in a row, you deal two damage. If you spend a turn and four mana to creature a treasure and then boost Forsworm Paladin you deal three damage. I'm not going to blow up two of my creatures to...

Sets (AFR) Adventures in the Forgotten Realms Previews- Dripping with Flavor, and Excess Words!

I wouldn't run Forsworm Paladin if I were playing Wildfire. It's extremely inefficient and I can't imagine not having a better option for its slot, be it any other form of ramp or a spell or a creature that survives Wildfire. Personally, I don't think the card is any good at any of its roles...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I doubt Grim Flayer is going to be overpowering and it's a clear signpost for Golgari graveyard decks. I would take it.

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

Ah, don't worry! I kept the Duplicant and cut the Steel Hellkite. I'm glad you like the mirror, I think it's worth a try at least. I've toyed with Soul Shatter and if it gained life or had a similar benefit it would work, but it's pretty much a 3-mana removal spell given my environment. Some...

    Inscho's Graveyard Combo Cube

I like Trading Post a lot. It opens up a lot of venues for unique control decks. I also like Land Tax. While it's very strong, I think the fact that you need to make it useable when you are first forces you to build a deck around it. My biggest fear with the card is not so much its power, but my...

This looks like a worse Mirror Entity. Classes are further proof than Sagas are a better design template than Planeswalkers. In fact, they are even closer to the original idea for the card than Sagas. They seem an inevitable addition to the game and I welcome them. They seem a bit below my...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

There aren't a lot of options, are they? -- Either way, I've been thinking about a couple changes: Combustible Gearhulk -> Scuttling Doom Engine These two cards look extremely similar to me, except one is colorless. Given the choice, I think I should move the slot to artifacts and free up...

That's a cool design, though probably better in multiples than in cube.

Sets (AFR) Adventures in the Forgotten Realms Previews- Dripping with Flavor, and Excess Words!

I have to admit, the whole set looks worse to me the more I know about it. The whole d20 mechanic is terrible. There's no risk management or any other interesting use of randomness, it's just luck. You might get an overcosted effect, an undercosted one or just steamroll your opponent. I don't...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

Dark-Dwellers is a fine inclusion but it feels like yet another spells payoff and it's not very exciting. I'm considering it but it's a bit meh. Burning Sun's Avatar is fine, but seems too low-powered for my cube. I haven't had much luck with Skarggan Hellkite. It was in my cube for a long time...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

For me the big priority is supporting Wildfire and other red control decks. The colour is doing well as far as aggro is concerned and it needs only a bit of tweating to make it truly good at artifacts. The second priority is supporting BR and GR decks, which means supporting the graveyard...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

I'm having problems revising my red section, starting with the creatures. These are the creatures I'm pretty certain I like. Except Goblin Sharpshooter, that one I'm not sure about. Goblin Welder Bomat Courier Soul-Scar Mage Dragon's Rage Channeler Grim Lavamancer Greater Gargadon Dismissive...

I don't like the "flavour" of the set much, but I do love that they made Grim Wanderer

    General Fight Club

Living Death is far better in practically every cube. First, it destroys creatures which is more significant than doing the same with artifacts. Second, it brings back creatures which tends to be more abuseable than artifacts and enchantments. Lastly, Living Death can be a fine addition to any...
