General Aesthetics Debate Club: Optimizing Art in Cube (Daily!)

I love a bit of engagement, so I’m here for the daily poll :) I also adore the Magali art, it’s soooo pretty and evocative! The only problem I have with that art is that, from a mechanics standpoint, it doesn’t convey what the card does at all. Who knew talking to a skull adds {g}, amirite?!

Congrats on the top 4! A bit unlucky to meet the sole scam deck, but what a performance! And now you get to prepare for World Championship! :D

I think Tyler Jacobson has the prettiest art, but it's hard for me to not associate Temple Garden with Selesnya, so it feels out of place. I was never a fan of Volkan Baga's version, and while Titus Lunter's art is on a frame I personally like better, I do think Rob Alexander takes the cake...

Sets (WOE) Wilds of Eldraine Spoilers

This is actually from Secret Lair: Last Week Tonight. Another artwork got spoiled. This has got to be Ovinize, right?!

Julie Dillon is one of my favorite artists in Magic right now, and hers is the prettiest Ponder for me. I don't like the aesthetics of Tedin's Lorwyn merfolk, plus he seems to have a thing for merfolk tiddies, so the original art doesn't really do it for me. I like the more abstract M10 Ponder...

RKF does have a tendency to paint muddy art, but in this case I don't feel the art is muddy at all.

General Aesthetics Debate Club: Optimizing Art in Cube (Daily!)

It’s Kane with a K :) But yeah, really easy pick here, as the newer arts all pale in comparison to RKF’s two pieces, of which I like the one with the fire & frost version the best by a fair margin. (PS Mark Zug has illustrated some amazing artworks for Magic, but this one ain’t it  it’s...

General Aesthetics Debate Club: Optimizing Art in Cube (Daily!)

If your opinion is that Solphim and Capricious Hellraiser use the same frame, then yes, the Secret Lair version of Inferno Titan uses the same frame as the Kaldheim legends in the showcase frame. Personally I disagree with this point of view. They create a showcase frame to capture the essence...

General Aesthetics Debate Club: Optimizing Art in Cube (Daily!)

You mean similar to how regular frames for legendary and nonlegendary cards are almost the same? Solphim, Mayhem Dominus Capricious Hellraiser My point is that the Kaldheim frame has a different top border for legendary and non-legendary cards. It's not a crown, which is why I had "crown" in...

It doesn't though! The legendaries actually have a legendary "crown" that is not present on the Inferno Titan frame! :)

The only artwork that communicates hurting multiple small things is the Kaldheim one, so ignoring border I voted for that one. I actually like the LotR version the least, because the titan itself takes up such a small part of the artwork. Sure, the mountains provide some size comparison, but...

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

It might become too wordy, I think: "Discard a card. Then search your library and graveyard for an artifact or creature card with mana value 2 or less, and put it onto the battlefield. If you searched your library this way, shuffle."

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

I think I liked the original ability better, even at -2. Equipment tutoring is extremely narrow.
