I kind of disagree, actually. From a design point of view, I like that they're variations on their predecessors in many cases, but not literal amalgamations. For example, Drana and Linvala obviously have Linvala, Keeper of Silence in them, but there isn't a version of Drana that steals activated...

I mean, if I had to custom this up, I would just make it "top 10 cards" and not have people do the mental gymnastics of counting their deck and then deciding what a fraction of their deck is.

o_O I think Fyndhorn Elder with upsides is a bit much at {1}{G}, but at {2}{G}{G} it’s a little underwhelming.

It makes sense that they are catering to the most popular format, despite many Commander players disliking the explicit pandering.

The graphic says “oursized share” near the end of the first paragraph. I think that should be “outsized share”. Man, what ridiculous growth though o_O

General [Lucky Paper] The History of the Cube Format

Love the article! For me personally, the article with the most influence on my (main) cube’s design was Jason Waddell’s SCG article on how to include tricolor cards. The answer? Run five of them instead of all ten. My cube has used an alternate color wheel ever since.

At work, so I don't have time to look at the whole thing, but the white and gold section looks cool! I would personally cut all the Terramorphic Expanses, and add painlands. Having all Evolving Wilds in existence is a cute gimmick, but I don't think the card is good enough to warrant cubing all...

I think it's hard to gauge how powerful these are. A lot depends on the power level of your lower mv threats, as well as on how easy these are to cast. I think you'ld have to run these through a gauntlet, just put them to the test to see how ridiculous they are in practice :)

No worries, I didn’t go into much detail, so it definitely was a point worth expounding! Edit: I also used the phrase "under no circumstance", which was unfortunate in hindsight. I should have proof-readed my response, but it was getting rather long, and I was at work XD

I agree, hence my observation on Figure of Destiny, which is really the only card on Train’s list this line of reasoning applies to. Kitchen Finks is great in a {w/b} deck, for example, as long as you can support a double white card.
