I don't think it's specifically Kamigawa-flavored. It's just a happy overlap between the Japanese art for the special Strixhaven Archive and the Japanese-inspired setting for Kamigawa.

You don't snowball into a win, necessaril, but all of those creatures grow to decidedly above curve for most cubes here. Not all though.

Renown blows because it's a "suck or snowball" mechanic. It only rewards you if you're winning (on board).

WotC are very aware of the limited number of iconic one word names available nowadays, so they tend to reserve those for either bread and butter spells they will reuse a lot, or for very evocative and/or iconic spells. Just take a look at all the one-word names that were first printed in 2021...

Yeah, Kamigawa already had a place in our hearts, and they definitely changed the look and feel of it. At least parts of it, at least. I guess there is a real difference between "here's a new plane, its theme is metal!" and "here's a plane you loved that we haven't visited in a while, we turned...

I mean, it's on par with some of Mirrodin's or Esper's denizens. Moriok Replica Salvage Slasher Master of Etherium I feel you though, it definitely is a departure from the typical fantasy art direction in Magic sets, partly because of the backdrop as well.
