There was a deck build around the combo in Modern, I believe. With Blood Sun out, you no longer have to sacrifice two lands when Lotus Field enters the battlefield and it enters the battlefield untapped!

Cataclysm can be abused by low-curve, aggressive decks. Cataclysmic Gearhulk, being a mana more expensive, is harder to run for those decks. In addition, like Mondschwein pointed out, it doesn't get rid of lands. In my experience, not only is a Cataclysm more powerful, it caters to an entirely...

It is, however, colorless, unlike Blood Sun, and a mana cheaper! It's not particularly good (though it does gain a lot of value if you run a Utility Land Draft), but neither is Blood Sun :P

I solved that problem by cutting the entire guild from my cube! Joke's on you, Selesnya! :')

Courser can function as a kind of card advantage, plus if you're playing lands from the top of your deck you're actually improving your draws. Also the life gain is non-negligible.

Oh for sure, I got that :) I still think it's a great card though, and that it wouldn't look out of place (power level wise) in a mid 2000's cube.

Grave Titan OP OP! If you really want to do a cube that feels like it's about synergies, I don't think you want to include Titan-level includes, maybe skip mythics altogether (which conveniently would exclude most planeswalkers). Skeletal Vampire is much closer to the power level of creatures...

Nope. Closest you're going to get is Thawing Glaciers, which is only remotely comparable.
