Because I’m lawful good and breaking the “rules” makes me uncomfortable. I’ll only do that if they’re actively harmful (and barring me from watching a series that’s available in another region is annoying, not harmful). Also, I’m “old” (read: over 40) and can’t be bothered with figuring out how...

I think number 3 is my personal favorite as well, though I like number 1 as well! The additional benefit of number 3 is that you can't drop a thrive creature on curve and immediately trigger it that end step because you created a token for free this turn.

    ! ! ! Q U A R T E R F I N A L S ! ! ! Can you believe it! I mean, my wife isn't particularly happy with the amount of time I'm spending on judging this contest, but I assured her I'm almost done! The knockout phase should be a bit faster, buuuuut I threw in a small wrench for myself. You'll see...

I was going to say read, but after a quick Google I found out it's been adapted into a three-season animated series around the turn of the century. The series gets a whopping 8.2 on IMDB, and the best part is that it's available on Amazon Prime. Instant add to the watchlist, thanks for prompting...

I think that slivers and energy are both poisonous mechanics. You basically want as many as you can get, because each extra sliver or energy card you can get makes the mechanic perform better, and non-sliver/non-energy cards are consequently less interesting. For energy this problem is more...

Aw, I didn't know the tags weren't exposes through an API, and you're right, they're not even complete. Still useful though!

While reminder text is indeed not rules text, it was definitely a bit too short hand. Your original reminder text was "A hiding creature has hexproof, first strike and can't be blocked. Remove a counter after it deals damage or you target it." This reminder text confused me, because it does not...

You know what would be cool? If you could search for a card web that looks something like the LuckyPaper cube map. Enter a card name, and it shows that card as a dot in the middle, connected with various isles that have more or less overlap with the tags of your card (optionally/by default...

To be fair, they’ve a) got a point, and b) we’re still talking about how these two podcasts can be applied to cube design. Like, the “tools” (or mindset) are presumably discussed in those podcasts.

I feel you, but I'm not going to let the silly frame withold me from playing some absolute bangers from that set. The basic {b}{g}{u} landcyclers in particular are the bee's knees, frame be damned :) There's plenty of resonant fantasy that would fit the Magic IP, though LotR and GoT are...

Maybe try incorporating UW in another way than how you did it... At least I got a Greymond, Avacyn's Stalwart for my human deck before they pulled support for UW.

I’m afraid there is no right answer here, because it all depends on how much interaction you want your players to have. What you can do is look at how much interaction you want your players to have. For example, if you want your drafters to have four pieces of removal on average, that’s 16 cards...

Well, I don’t want blue to look like colorless mana. Blue as a color identity still comes with expectations of what is and what isn’t in pie. You’re still playing blue spells, it’s just that every deck in the draft is blue. It would look and feel weird if Counterspell cost {2} in this...
