The reason I am sticking with Goliath currently is the cheaper scavenge cost. I like it in something like an aggressive madness deck, where six mana is much more realistic than seven in the (hopefully) final stages of the game.

Another important difference is, that in Magic you poay against your friends, in D&D you (usually) play with them together. Also, the dungeon master (the person who tells and leads the story) can still be harsh or nice to you. In my D&D experiences die rolling has never lead to feel bad...

I think Squirrel Nest is quite a bit weaker than Chitter Spitter, or am I missing something? Barring synergies with Arbor Elf, the Anthem should put the artifact above it. That being said, I'll stick with Squirrel Nest. It's more elegant, more resonant, less silly and fits my middling power...

True, but being forced to pay 2 during upkeep sucks and might be a reason that Pyramid or Atlas will keep up. You might hold any kind of instant/flash spell, that you'd like to keep up during opponents turn, which might convince you to not pull the trigger on your upkeep. Then, if it turns out...

I think better comparison would be Endless Atlas or Sunset Pyramid.

Another thing to make sacrifice less insular is just adding a good amount of recursion. Most black decks don't mind a strong recursion engine like Phyrexian Reclamation or nice one shot effect like Order of Midnight. And with these in the deck, any nice etb creature becomes great sacrifice fodder.

I also run 4 adventure cards in white, which can all trigger it on their own.
