I'm kinda fond of those Lorwyn swamps, myself. They're the happiest damn swamps in the multiverse.

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

One of the interns at my company who's fairly new to Magic made a great observation that while all his casual green decks often didn't do anything, other than plopping down bodies and hoping for the best, his green cube deck was able to pump his extra ramp mana into stuff like Polukranos and...

General Print this Wizards! (So I can put it in my cube)

This is fantastic! I love that it's good at many points on the curve (though I suspect optimal at 3), has a green feel, and still rewards multicolour. And hey, its full five colour mode is not that far off from Fusion Elemental.

I must've went on a posting binge over the weekend, because I remember being at 980ish and now I'm now way over 1000, and I have no idea which post was actually the milestone one. SON OF A

General When Is Fixing Too Good?

I.. would contend this point. Almost all the decks care about their life total, except for the single deck in the draft that's going to be the beatdown in all potential matchups. One of the main reasons control is sorta unviable in Jason's list is that you take five damage from all your fetching...

General Decks that have 3-0'd your cube

Yeah, I think a smattering of cheap walls goes a long way towards defensive decks being playable.

In the very first iteration of my cube, U/B control was far and away the best archetype. I miss countering all the spells, sweeping all the things, and then dropping one of my many finishers of choice.

CML, we don't doubt that you hate a lot of things about the Magic culture, and some of the specific people in that community. But why do you assume everyone else here is a contrarian asshole, like yourself? From what I can tell, there are very few people on this forum that fit that description...

Tiers allowing duplicates, right? If all eight people can nab Shelldock Isle, are your concerns about complexity addressed, Dom? Nobody's waiting on anyone, and you can take a look at the list for a few minutes and just send your choices to Jason or me. Then go ahead and build your decks.

General When Is Fixing Too Good?

I think this has as much to do with your playerbase as anything. As I said to Jason on the big Skype chat, I feel like the skill level of his playerbase is on the low side, which is why he keeps amassing upwards of five fetches and winning with multicolour aggro decks. Even with twenty fetches...

    Article ChannelFireball: Utility Land Draft

Yeah, it takes way too long for what it is, considering that unlike in real life, you can't build your deck at the end while the utility picks are going on. It took under thirty minutes to draft all three packs, and it felt like it took nearly half that time to resolve the thirty-two utility...

True, just look at all the trashed cards. Maybe I'll do packs of thirteen, trash two.

    General Drafting with Small Groups

Four packs of twelve? Thirteen? Or just not worth the extra added complexity? I'm partial to the idea of trashing cards, as it's kind of the same principle that makes your Grid Draft and Tenchester formats work.

    General Drafting with Small Groups

Random comment I saw on the /r/mtgcube subreddit: With six people, draft four packs of fifteen cards, but trash the last four cards of any pack, so you end up with 44 total at the end. You get to see the same number of cards you would in an eight-man, and none of the crucial archetype...
