Site News Inaugural RipLab draft: February 9th (Sunday)

If we get enough for a second draft pod, do we want to do an earlier Sunday session for the Europeans, say in the afternoon for you guys? I think Sunday morning EST might actually work better for me.

    Card/Deck Cheap non-creature ramp

Laz hit the nail on the head. Those are pretty much the exact cards I'm running in green, or have run very recently in the past. A man after my own design sensibilities! There's also the very sweet cycling Rampant Growth: Edge of Autumn And while the following are creatures, I tend to lump...

    Card/Deck Red Tokens

I really like where you're going with this, Alfonso. I don't remember if you have a cube thread for your list, or whether you've posted about your cube archetypes and I just missed it, but either way I'd love to hear more about the kinds of decks your environment creates. If you have some sample...

    Card/Deck Red Tokens

Looks good to me! I think this is Young Pyromancer's day of reckoning, when it comes to cube. She has so much potential, but no one's been able to unlock any of it so far. This is as juiced an environment as it's going to get for her, so it's sink or swim time. If she's no good despite all these...

General Print this Wizards! (So I can put it in my cube)

If you need to hose tokens / small things, I suppose you could just run Night. The decks wants an effect like this aren't usually in the business of playing 1/1's, anyways.

    Jason Waddell's Cube

Jesus Christ, I only added Sarkhan Vol to my list a week ago. The intern has been going nuts mock drafting my list.

    Jason Waddell's Cube

If you keep deleting and re-uploading your entire cube list whenever you change three cards, the CubeTutor AI can't pick up on people's drafting habits, you know.

General How to make red aggro more fun

People beat this drum every once in a while, and it never seems to go anywhere, but is there an instants / sorceries deck in red? I don't mean the bad Kiln Fiend ones, but something with Young Pyromancer, Guttersnipe, Chandra's Phoenix, and Satyr Firedancer. Young Pyro already goes well with...

    Article BGN Cube Review

Yay, my horse-kick-dirt quote makes it in for another round of set reviews! IM FAMOUS I think I'll give Flame-Wreathed Phoenix a shot, too, despite the crowd at the red four drop slot. Maybe Ember Swallower could use a rest.

General Print this Wizards! (So I can put it in my cube)

That's what I'm saying. The format was so aggressive, and that trying to be controlling was such a bad strategy, that it elevated Mindless Null from unplayable dreck to passable body, because all you wanted to do was attack for two every turn. I remember drafting triple Zendikar a few times and...

General Print this Wizards! (So I can put it in my cube)

I wouldn't go so far as to call triple Zendikar good. A format where people were forced to maindeck Mindless Null because it was nearly impossible to play a defensive, controlling strategy is not my idea of a good time.

General Print this Wizards! (So I can put it in my cube)

Whaaaat you need to talk to me. Full block Alara was so much fun! Those Alara Reborn packs were plenty juiced, so it was a fun exercise trying to set yourself up for that important last pack. It had its share of problems - the Esper artifact theme being a prime example of the Poison Principle...

    Site News RipLab Community Drafts

Sunday afternoons could work for me, as long as I have a couple days' notice. Weeknights aren't great cause I rarely have a four hour block of time after work, but hopefully there's enough people here that it would work regardless.

    General CBS

No hosting drafts.in on our site, for the foreseeable future. The long and short of it is that on our current hosting provider, we'd need to move up a couple payment tiers before we can run custom software, which would quintuple our monthly hosting cost. If we were to switch providers at some...

Yeah, Cockatrice is out of the question entirely. I have no interest in putting our site into the crosshairs of Hasbro lawyers.

    General CBS

Maybe. I'd have to see what our hosting provider supports. Before I begin investigating, though: Why would we want to get into that line of business?

Waddell, you're among the last of the holdouts. We'll make a convert out of you yet.

    General CBS

Not even in the slightest bit humble brags: One of the interns here mock drafts my cube on CubeTutor every time he's waiting for code to compile. I yell that he's making the wrong pick, even though I can't make out the details of his monitor from where I sit. Another intern loaded up my cube...
