    Card/Deck Wx Cycling

Bag is very cool. Good call! It’d have good tension in my cube because the exile is a real risk if it gets blown up....works great with: desecrated tomb Syr Konrad, the grim Since it allows the discarded card to hit the graveyard before exiling

    Card/Deck Wx Cycling

this is what I’m finding. I always had strong discard theme in my graveyard cube, but it wasn’t until I started dropping the power level down that I realized how rich the theme could be.

    Card/Deck Wx Cycling

I'm a big fan of the cycling deck in a lower powered format. I've been considering Hoofprints as the second buildaround to Astral Drift, and think it might be less narrow than Astral Slide. Not a fan of Fox, Healer, or Cairn, personally...Drake Haven feels like the correct power level for a...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I love it, and have run it for years as my second wildfire effect. Great overlap with madness/discard themes...since the wurms can survive It. X usually equals two or three, and can actually be pretty unfair depending on your support cards.

    General "Lower-Powered" Pivot Cards

Similarly, tuktuk the explorer Which adds some artifact overlap....it’s fair as it is a bit harder to abuse since the token is legendary. Great with wildfire and other sweepers

    General "Lower-Powered" Pivot Cards

I don't know how I forgot Sevinne's Reclamation....it's easily one of my favorite cards in recent printing. I'm experimenting with Quasiduplicate in a lower powered draft, and I'm liking it so far. It's especially fun in decks I have that are heavy mill and recur something interesting via...

General An auto-pick in synergy's clothing

My argument is really just how these cards become more of an auto-pick the more you scale down your power, and trying to loosely map out the point in which these cards become more problematic for an environment. Your sample 8-pack includes: The best burn spell ever printed One of the best...

    General "Lower-Powered" Pivot Cards

Porting this question over from the An auto-pick in synergy's clothing thread, because it probably deserves its own topic. I think it'd be helpful to use lower-powered loosely here. For reference, the discussion started to circle around Pia and Kiran Nalaar as a benchmark for a higher-powered...

General An auto-pick in synergy's clothing

More good points. I appreciate creating space for the normal decks to operate which is important to allow for drafters of a wider range of experience to enjoy a cube. It's interesting to consider the tradeoffs (like what shams posted moments before this) for operating at a higher power level...

General An auto-pick in synergy's clothing

sorry for the double post, but I just thought of another card I wanted to discuss: Rankle, Master of Pranks Thoughts on this one? It’s so freakin rad, but I never want to pick another card over it :D I thought it might be more fair than braids because it can’t hit lands, but it hits pretty...

General An auto-pick in synergy's clothing

Add to Mox Diamond... Chrome Mox I ran both of these versions in my Cube recently because they were thematic in the hellbent and lands in zones deck. But, yeah they’re still moxes! I don’t disagree with any of the others y’all have mentioned...I didn’t test some due to just assuming they...

    Alchemist's Crucible

Yeah, sorry for lobbing a vast "what's the meaning of life" type question your way :D All good points. Thanks! I also thought Typhoon was a little dangerous in your cube at first glance. I have it slotted into my cube for now, but I don't think I love it as it has that nissa, steward of...

General An auto-pick in synergy's clothing

This sums it up better than I could! I think the discussion can only help map out the tipping point for some of these cards. The user manual for lower powered non-rarity restricted cubes is fuzzier and really requires ample playtesting, which (hopefully) no one is doing (irl) right now!

General An auto-pick in synergy's clothing

I'm coming around to cutting some of these late, because I was running the GCC at a relatively high power level with things like show and tell, fastbond, thousand-year storm, yawgmoth's bargain, tinker, etc....and thought that at the higher power level some of these cards were less auto-picky...

General An auto-pick in synergy's clothing

Yes! I should’ve listed copter as it’s on my chopping block. For the same reasons as you described. It’s a hard cut for me because it is so tasty in the Emry dredge deck, and Key to the City is good, but boy is it a weird awkward card that irks me. I agree that there needs to be cards that...

    General "Looking for a card"-Thread

Look at the split/aftermath cards as they have the collective cmc of both sides when not on the stack. It’s an easy way to support it without forcing it. Then maybe run vengeful rebirth if you aren’t already. Things like commit // memory gets a little nuts! There’s also vexing scuttler Elder...

General An auto-pick in synergy's clothing

When I first began cubing, I became aware of the idea of auto-picks and GRBS (game-ruining bull****), and that there were cards that were so format-warping that it was irresponsible to pass them...cards like Jace, Memory Adept. My next lesson in cubing was that there was another group of cards...

    General Fight Club

I’m a big fan of moldervine cloak. Pair it with a Bloodghast-type creature and you have a pretty large recursive beater. It’s really nice in a fair way with heavy self-mill themes and stax strategies.....death cloud, etc. It’s one of the few auras I’ve found that has broad archetype appeal.
