General [Format Discussion] Modern Masters is Totally Incredible

Yeah, I think four colour green was the way to go there, with white and black being the main splashes, and Tromp being the endgame. That lets me play all of the bombs - Valkyrie, Skeletal Vamp, Divinity. Too embarrassed to say what I actually played and lost in four quick games with

    General Brainstorming: Low Fantasy Cube

It's probably my nostalgia nerve being tweaked, but I can get behind any cube where both flanking and banding are themes. I suppose my concern is that white gets a disproportionate amount of the goodies. Even with your extensive animal list, it seems like white's list of humans outnumber and...

General [Format Discussion] Modern Masters is Totally Incredible

i went 0-2 with that pool and then got a bye in the last round, that brings me to 2-9 lifetime in Modern Masters Limited matches now i'm gonna go eat this bag of chips and then lie in bed and think about all the poor life choices i've made that have culminated in this exact set of...

General [Format Discussion] Modern Masters is Totally Incredible

So I got home, fired up MTGO, and the phantom draft queues were empty.. but the phantom sealed queue had 7 waiting. Yeah, I know, sealed is for chumps, but leaving that bit aside, how would you build this? I could not figure it out for the life in me in the twenty minutes allotted. (Yes, I'm bad...

    Article [M14] Lifebane Zombie

Yeah, I'm a pretty big fan of this cycle. It's far less annoying than protection, and less in-your-face about colour hosing than your Celestial Purges and Deathmarks. Do you guys think the new 3/3 hexproof wolf is an upgrade on Troll Ascetic?

    Card/Deck Varolz, the Scar-Striped

I'm kind of torn between him and Lotleth Troll, since I only have so many Golgari spots available, and they're fighting for the same small-creature slot. So I haven't tested Varolz yet, but I'd also like to hear from people who do. The Troll seems more flexible and easier to jam into any deck...

    Article [M14] Lifebane Zombie

Arrrrgh. I thought it was exile any white or green card in the opponent's hand, and so I assumed the card was totally bonkers. Only affecting creatures dampens my excitement for its relevance in cube. Note to self: RTFC!

Really stoked about Imposing Sovereign! I love a good :1::w: hate bear that can rumble in the red zone, and while nobody's going to argue that 2/1 body is meaty, making all of your opponent's dorks come into play tapped is nothing short of savage. To me, Sovereign is to Blind Obedience what...

I kinda preferred the green logo, myself. It gave me a Ninja Turtle-esque mutant ooze feel. And nothing says brewing like some glowing mutagen tubes! Rob - Excellent point about the SSL encryption. It's something I've been thinking about myself. In our defence, none of the major Magic forums...

    Article ChannelFireball: Utility Land Draft

Yeah, that's definitely something to consider. Is this Murmuring Bosk and friends? I've got Terramorphic Expanse, Evolving Wilds, and even Transguild Promenade in mine, and they usually all get nabbed.

    Article ChannelFireball: Utility Land Draft

This is an interesting choice. Is there any reason you're opting for control fixing in the utility land pile? I'm basically doing the exact opposite, by running a full set of Ice Age / Apocalypse painlands in these slots, which is really rough when you're a three colour control deck. But I...

    Tanner's Cube (~500, Unpowered)

Interesting list, Tanner. If you don't mind me offering you some advice, it feels like your cube could do with a stronger sense of direction. What I mean by that is that you'd do well to choose a target power level to aim for, and then strive to keep the majority of your cards in the range of...

General Ways to run an online cube draft

The part that worries me about TappedOut is that it sometimes inexplicably freezes up in the middle of a draft, and stops registering your picks. At that point, there's usually no way to salvage the draft. Happy to hear that there's a good alternative!

General Ways to run an online cube draft

Cockatrice is just for playing. I think he's saying to do the draft on drafts.in, which looks like it pulls cube data from TappedOut.

    CML's Cube (405, polychromatic)

I might copy you and do this too. Last time we did this, most people didn't end up playing their fourth land anyways. And fifty lands to stare at and choose from is a bit overwhelming for the new & lapsed players, so I could probably stand to cut the ones nobody ever takes, like poor ol'...

General It could happen in any number of formats

How has Hellion Crucible been for you guys, anyways? I've been considering it for my utility land pile, because I have enough Teetering Peaks-style cards to last a lifetime. I mean, I also have Kher Keep, but I'm not convinced that's a card. (Or is it...?)

Matt's Cube (720, unpowered, usually used for multiplayer formats)

Sweet cube, Matt. Looks pretty good for a big 720 list. If I could offer a couple of suggestions, right off the bat: - I'd look to trim the size of your gold section a little bit. There are some, er, questionable choices in the list right now. As much as I love its artwork, I don't see anybody...
