The main issue with Pack Rats is the issue with Thopter Foundry+Sword of the Meek or Oketra's Monument+Kor Skyfisher — once you get the "combo" online, it leads to some pretty repetitive play patterns.

Rhythm of the Wild + Wildfire. There's your degenerate persist combo deck. ;)

I feel like it can work, especially if you fill the Box with a higher density of pip-heavy cards. It'd certainly have a different feel to it, which is entirely what I'm here for.

New Capenna was really disappointing because it followed a mechanically interesting set (with tons of overlapping themes) with a pretty standard "here are the five factions, with their five faction mechanics" set-up.

Japanese is arguably worse, to pick an obvious example. Then you get stuff like Manx (English + Irish = why), Navajo (aka "Hey, can you leave some vowels for the rest of us?"), or Cherokee (to be fair, the person who invented written Cherokee was literally illiterate).
