    General Fight Club

Yidaro is vastly superior to Rorix Bladewind for sure, and I like it more than Magmatic Force, Zealous Conscripts, and Goblin Dark-dwellers. *I know conscripts is in the cube for Splinter Twin support, I still like Yidaro more because it's applicable in more decks.

    General Companions, Yay or nay?

I probably shouldn't have used Kaladesh as an example. The set caused a -lot- of problems in standard, but those were all development issues and not design issues. I just remember Magic not being particularly fun to listen too or talk about during that period of time, largely because of the...

    General Fight Club

That's one of the reasons why I'm looking at Yidaro. Giving players insurance that they're not throwing away their finisher when they cycle is a good way to get people to use all of the parts of the card.

    General Fight Club

I mean, People Play Lots of Cycling Cards just for the cycling ability. Having a cantrip in your deck is not a bad reason to play a card. I agree with you that the body is the actually good part of Yidaro, but I'm not sure my control player valuing it for the cantrip is a reason not to include...

    General Companions, Yay or nay?

It absolutely matters where the problem lies. Design's job isn't to make something balanced, they're job is to make something fun. They're the ideas people. They come up with cool cards and hand them off to other people to make them presentable. The development team's job is to make sure that...

    General Fight Club

Yidaro, Wandering Monster is the pick, hands down. Drakuseth, Maw of Flames is just a big idiot creature that probably wins the game if he attacks and sticks. He's the definition of a swingy card, and is definitely not something that I'd really want running around in my cube. Yidaro, Wandering...

    General Companions, Yay or nay?

I think you're way overreacting. F.I.R.E philosophy is not the problem here. Rather, it's the same problem WOTC has always had: poor playtesting results. For those of you who don't know, F.I.R.E philosophy is an acronym standing for "Fun, Inviting, Replayable, Exciting." They adopted this...

    General "Looking for a card"-Thread

It entirely depends on consistent your ramp decks are. If ramp can slam it as a 10/10 on turn 6, then it's kind of broken. If ramp can't, it ends up just being a "fine" midrange card that you play if you're already blue-green but probably don't go out of your way to make work. Krasis X=2 or 3 is...

    General Companions, Yay or nay?

I do not think these companions are good options for cube designers. The fact is, many of these cards are trivially easy to build around in cube. It's not hard to meet any of their restrictions, especially if you as a designer are thinking about making them work. Even Kaheera, The Orphanguard is...

    General Cultic Cube video series

For the first time, elegant, non-rarity restricted cubes are making it on to MTGO! This is a great day for the cube community!

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Conqueror's Flail is fine, but I'd rather my Vulshok Morningstar always give a consistent power/toughness boost and not hose control. It's a good card, but I think it's ability suite can create a lot of negative variance which has an adverse effect on gameplay. Unless control is dominating your...

    General Classic Cube

I think decks that have the most to lose from mana burn would only be punished by it if their controller was playing poorly. If you're losing a game to mana burn by making 27 mana with Gaea's Cradle, you've done something horribly wrong.

    Highball: Legacy of the Rails

Sorry I've taken so long to reply to this, I wanted to think about what you were saying here before I just replied. I did a poor job explaining what I meant by "Strategy VS. Synergy." However, you said what I was trying to convey in my post, so I'll just quote what you said: ...And that's...

    General Small archetype packages

I used to play Faith of the Devoted but I cut it for space a few months ago. The floor of 3 mana do nothing is just a little too low for me, and unlike Drake Haven, you can't get more than 2 damage out of 1 mana. However, since you have a life-gain matters theme in your W/B section I could see...

    Highball: Legacy of the Rails

Digging Through Time, Part 1 While Coronavirus is shutting down the world, I'm hard at work creating my Ikoria update for Highball. After all, there are only a few short days until the new set is released, quarantine restrictions will be relaxed, and I can start cubing again. Luckily, Ikoria...

That is cursed. I really hope that's not what their intent with these was.

Claim is a 1-mana instant, but that's about it. If you're in the market for one of these effects, I think Reclamation Sage is better given the toolbox cards it would be run aside.

    Highball: Legacy of the Rails

I just created an MTGSalvation thread for this cube.

Yeah I mean the set's out and people can play with it. The paper print was only delayed thanks to the Virus.

    General Exes Archetype

The biggest issue I see with trying to enable this as a deck is the raw inconsistency of it. Although there are a lot of good {X} spells, you can't run too many in your cube because they're not usually that effective until being cast for higher values. A spell with X in it's cost is rarely less...
