    I made a few mistakes in drafting, but overall I think it was pretty solid. Some of the weird Temporal Mastery related picks were intentionally experimental. I'll have a full article on this draft in the coming weeks. Pack 1

    I know, but generally the randomness isn't the element that "makes" the game, and I'm sure the ones that have it could easily be functionally implemented sans random elements.

    There are good dexterity-based games that aren't really based on luck. Street Fighter games don't really have luck. I feel like you're just spouting CML.

    The main problem is that no other cards care about the same things that Tarmogoyf cares about. And it's good enough on its own (provided you run a low curve, lots of removal and fetches) that you don't even need to draft around it. I mean, I like your ideas, don't get me wrong.

    I think part of the problem is that the block feels weak because Dragon's Maze delivered almost nothing. The cards that we did get all came out early in the block.
