I like Stalking Stones but I think it's out of place in Modern Magic. 6 mana plus a seventh land is a lot and limited manabases are shaky enough that colorless lands are hard to justify.
I don't like Cradle of the Accursed at all. Sacrificing a land to get a 2/2 at sorcery speed when you have...
Living Death is powerful enough on its own to make it all sorts of decks but it also rewards synergy to a enough of a degree to justify running lesser cards to support it. It's a great design.
Sadly, there's no best sleeve. The choice is between Ultra Pro Eclipse and Dragon Shield and they both have serious drawbacks.
Ultra Pro Eclipses pick up gunk. I don't know why, but they become dirty very quickly. I picked them up and ended up replacing them in less than a tournament season...
A three-mana planeswalker that loots twice per turn is going to be good even before you steal an artifact. Just stealing a mana rock or creature is more than enough to make it way above curve. Even then, it's just not interesting compared to another welder effect in Daretti.
Sulfuric Vortex is a no-brainer that goes into just one archetype and makes a large amount of decks unviable. Really, it doesn't matter how you stabilize to use Life from the Loam, if I play Vortex there's a very narrow window for you to win or it will kill you. It's not necessary to make aggro...
Séance
So, what is this? Can it work? It looks like a card to make white care about grveyard synergies and blink at the same time. Or perhaps it's just bad, I don't know.
Magus of the Wheel is great. A 3/3 that refills your hand is not bad. Since you can active it at the end of turn, it's easier to break the symmetry on it. It's a great include of most lists. The main problem with the card is that it's yet another 3-drop.
Magus of the Will is a much weaker...
I've been thinking about the topic, making drafts and trying to find archetypes only to realize that the answer has been staring in my face the whole time
Naya should be the aggro section of the cube.
1) I'm working with very broad archetypes. Lands, +1/+1 counters and the like are much...
That's the problem Nanonox, I can't really think of a big overaching theme for Naya that isn't best realized as a smaller pair.
I think Lands is probably the closest. But I'm not sure how to draw white into the theme, much less with the budget restrictions. No Loam, Crucible and the like puts...
First, I want to thank you guys for all the suggestions. I've been thinking about them and even doing some drafts. The problem is as follows:
Spells, Graveyard and grinding value from ETBs are very broad themes. They can go in very different decks and be built in countless ways. But +1/+1...
While Aristocrats is a bit cliché and I already use it on my other cube the truth is that it would fit the cube very well. So it might be a good inclusion. Heroic is too similar to spells matter, so I'm not that attracted to it.
So yeah, I need to see what can Naya do that fits the other colours.
Gather the Townsfolk makes humans and humans is a great, easy archetype to add to most cubes. I think it might be too high power for your cube so I would just take the Raise the Alarm instead.
Thank you!
The issue with Naya being the Lands theme is that, well, that's the default theme for the colour isn't it? Something I've noticed, not just with this cube but my other one and Magic in general is that, well, themes are repeated a lot. There's not as much variety in Magic as one...
Hello, I'm Erik Twice and I should be writing. But I have a headache and I'm bored. While I wait for it to go away I've decided to draft another cube. One that is cheap and that I can actually build in real life with real cards. Let's say 20 cents per card is 20 cents too much.
Since my cube...
I've seen Primal Might see play in Standard and it was much better than I thought it would be. Spending three mana to get rid of an utility creature and blast face is a surprisingly good tempo play. You need a deck that wants to smash face, though. The main advantage over Prey Upon is that you...
I just want to say that
Terror of the Peaks
Is a lot of fun. I wish it were a 4/5 so it could survive Wildfire because the ability and risking it getting blown up is interesting. Also, totally busted with Uro. Everything is busted with Uro.
I drafted Blackmsmithy's cube a bunch. Here are some thoughs I shared when he asked for advice for UR Spells. I'll divide it in "Core", cards that lead me into the archetype, and "Support", cards that will rank higher if I'm in it but that aren't part of the archetype per se.
Blue: Pteramander...
I was bored and thought about making a low-power cube. But I don't want to repeat the same themes at a lower power. What are some cool archetypes that are not the usual spells matter, blink, aristocrats, artifacts, etc?
