Ash Barrens
This has been out for a few years. What are your experiences with it?
I first added it when I ran a Grixis self-discard theme deck (Madness Drake Haven). I don’t have that theme anymore. Do you guys like this card?

Ultimatums!
My cube has no issues running many/few/none/all multicolored cards because players only discover the cards they can play. It is a mini game in the tournament to switch colors throughout the tournament.
I already run Cruel. Will test three Ikoria Ultimatums although I doubt all...
Mutations
Not really a big fan here. They don’t allow the mutated creatures to grow and grow. They just change power/toughness equal to the biggest. Therefore they are complex auras which means I might include a few but not really a theme.
Some unlikely scenarios includes a creature being...
I have huge plans for this set.
RIP my wallet
And I don’t even like asian Modern Tokyo monster aliens.
Companions!
Greatest addition to this game since.. Sagas.. Or maybe Equipments.. Or maybe ever. I love my cube because it feels so fucking awesome to play with Magic cards the way we do. It...
This was a very interesting read. Most of the time I see praise for the double double on Fetch Shock and this is quite the opposite. Super interesting to hear counter arguments for the double double. The same with the 2B vs 1BB cost.
Just like a dual land like Tundra can lead you to Jeskai. I do not see it as an issue that you will see a greedy 4-color player every now and then. I don’t think it will be the norm. Do you?
They can never give you a fully complete cycle first. They have to start 50 % before they can 100 %.
A set does not support all 10 Guilds or all 10 Shards/Khans/Triomes but only half of them.
And then they always have to decide between:
1. Finish a half-completed cycle
2. Start a new cycle up...
Your pal Velrun always has you covered on the tokens!
Here are the Ikoria: Lair of the Behemoths tokens:

In the link you will also find the Commander Ikoria tokens.
The colors of the ultimatums?
You mean the wedge colors (Abzan, Jeskai, Mardu, Sultai & Temur)?
They were the only 5 tri-color combinations left if Wizards were to complete the Shards of Alara ultimatums from 2008.
I run it too. This is not as cool because of the wording but I think I can find room for both.
Brad you bastard(!) :) Now I might need to also(...) find room for Jaya’s.
Noooooooooooo!!
I thought I could name these my 10 favorite cards of all time (because I knew that would be! Deck constraints is why I host cube tournaments.) but then they spoiled that one Companion that Dave Humpherys didn’t see succeed in an Ikoria draft.
The wedge ultimatums have been spoiled as well. Everything TrainMaster shared with us became true.
Yet he got yelled at for spoiling fake cards on MTG Salvation.
A big hurrah for Train from me! Long live the king of trains!
“Playable” is where you want Heartless Act to be :)
In a cube with 0 counters, Heartless Act is lame. It belongs a cube with a counters theme.
Same logic Wizards used when they put it in a set with a counters theme like Ikoria: Lair of the Behemoth.
