    What is your expected value calculation? > 0 * 0.036 + 1 * 0.193 + 2 * 0.361 + 3 * 0.293 + 4 * 0.104 + 5 * 0.013 [1] 2.275 Oh, I used rounded numbers, but you are subtracting 1 from the expected value for the land you discarded, right? Worth noting: in either case draws 1, 2 and 3 are the...

I can't see a 5-drop that just dumps power and toughness onto the board as being too risky to run at most power levels. I'd be more afraid of many other cube 5-drops hitting the other side of the table.

Should be noted that discarding a land is pretty mana-development neutral. You draw two cards, and you expect about 0.8 of them to be a land on average. You can even draw two lands off of it! You could probably insight on Turn 1 with a 2-land hand and have it not be completely unjustifiable.

I think it's too situational. Cube control decks would probably just prefer to board wipe and then play their creature. Besides, it's not like you can't set up similar things with a red sweeper. I don't see a home for it in cube.

For the sake of debate, are there any actual red 3-drop creatures people are omitting due to being too powerful? Blue 3 drop creatures omitted: True-Name Red 3-drop spells omitted Sulfuric Vortex Wheel of Fortune (not sure how much wheel counts) My guess is that most RL 3-drop red sections...

Other point: if Acolyte is blocked, the damage triggers before combat damage is assigned and you can finish the blocker off with burn damage, making the opponent hesitant to block even with say, a Baneslayer. This introduces some bluffing / reading, which isn't all that prominent in a typical...

Eh, kind of interesting to see people not let a point go in here. To argue against FSR, not blocking acolyte will make it a) grow and consequently b) harder to block in the future. FSR's argument is that of a punisher mechanic: if you give your opponent the choice, they get to choose the one...

I think now that a WOTC sanctioned scry variant exists, it's going to be harder to push marginally better alternatives to your player group.

Card/Deck Ug... What should I do with my Blue-Green section?

I run Coatl + Courser + Shardless + bucket of Brainstorms in my cube, I like UG as weird spell + creature interactions. Running 5, 6, and 7 drops in the UG section kind of says "you only get rewarded if you go ramp in this combination", which is fine. I mean, my RB section probably says "you...
