General What other formats do you use your cube for?

I'd be so tempted to do 24 / 7 for mnemonic purposes.

Planning a Video Game Night (8-10 people)

Okay, here is the current plan after discussing with people. Each game will be a miniature tournament (30-45 minutes), and the music games are just a 1-song for points thing. How you do in each game translates to a certain number of points. Each game has a winner, then there will be an overall...

Planning a Video Game Night (8-10 people)

I am wondering about the "decathlon" style. Maybe it's better to run individual tournaments for games (e.g. a Wii Tennis teams tournament) and crown a champion for each, then move on. It keeps people committed for less time, and allows people to opt out if needed.

Planning a Video Game Night (8-10 people)

No date yet. How easy is Magicka to learn? I'm assuming we'll be playing some of these with people who haven't played at all. Also, is there now a battle mode?

Planning a Video Game Night (8-10 people)

Help me plan a gathering! We are planning a video game evening with the following resources: - an open living room with sofas, large tv - a secondary room with up to 2 small tvs + 8 chairs Systems available: - Wii U - Wii - Xbox 360 - PS3/4 - Nintendo DS - SNES It's a mixed, mostly casual...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Unearth, Snapcaster, Unearth is such a fun play.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

This seems like a better choice. Instant speed, and has some flexibility (potentially) beyond just grabbing flashback spells, as well as some play for your opponent.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Uh, sure. :) Your cube sounds like a perfect place for it. I love Quiet Speculation. Not sure what your assortment of flashback spells is though.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Yeah, this one is fine. It's also priced only 1-mana more than Char, which is playable and has a drawback.

I liked this card a lot more when my mind read it as "Delve" not "Convoke". I haven't been too impressed with Convoke cards in cube. I tried to make them work in Eldrazi Domain, but even in a token-heavy environment they left something to be desired.

General Supporting aggro without 1-drops [Peasant]

Broken images? EDIT: Gatherer is down.

General Supporting aggro without 1-drops [Peasant]

I will say, even in retail limited, the most threatening aggro starts I've faced have dropped, say, a Turn 1 beater (that G/W hybrid 2/1 from RTR comes to mind). Part of the challenge in a lower-power environment is that your beatdown decks need ways to force through 20 points of damage...

Could be that we have years and years of double strike cards and only one block of Heroic cards. Also, most (all?) cube-able double strikers are playable without further interactions, and the interactions that do exist also have value to other creatures. Not sure the same can be said for Heroic.

    General Fight Club

What's the upside on the avatar? a syngergy-based Tarmogoyf type of creature with reach and trample? Geist also works with +1/+1 counters, so that's not necessarily a big tick in avatar's column.

Luigi has a terrible recovery. Most players have an Up-B that has some sort of range and horizontal movement to it, but Luigi just has this dinky jump that goes straight up and hardly anywhere. As a result he has to use his Side-B, which is even dinkier and sends him flailing like a retarded...

    The Video Game Thread

There's apparently a new Blood Bowl-esque game that came out on Steam. It's by the makers of Frozen Synapse, which sounded great on paper but I thought was actually pretty balls to play (in a bad way), so I'm not very optimistic, despite Penny-Arcade plugging it.
