Ruinator takes real work to support but if you have creature-heavy Ux decks (often, in my environment, UG coco shells) it's a very powerful recurring threat that also goes great in dredge. Imo Ruinator if you put the effort in as a designer and Stitched Drake if you're just looking to fill a slot.

I know Dom likes Evershrike and says it's good if you have a lot of auras. I would've loved to run it but most of my auras are Bestow guys, and don't offer the density of auras to rez it again and again. I will say that a very cute and strong engine is Evershrike + Rancor

I think Zur is cool and fun and i'm surprised that's not the orthodox RipLab take. he scales with your ability to protect him and doesn't take that much effort to support imo.

imo it's Multani and Blossoming Defence. Multani is just grindy enough that you can rely on him to help out the less curve-based lands decks, and IMO decks that want to protect the queen are sometimes looking to protect a guy with double strike, where the stat buff becomes a meaningfully big deal

I tested it very briefly and found it inelegant, even though I'd thought it would rule. It's certainly strong enough but IMO either you want to slam it asap or it rots in your hand until you're out of threats. IMO it is stronger than basalt monolith if you aren't, like, turn-1-ing it.

WotC themselves draw a distinction between 'design' and 'development', where design is making cards and development is adapting those cards to the limited / standard environment. In my experience players are more willing to tolerate 're-developed' cards than actual customs.
