This is a question for my Cube, but I know other people run similar setups and I'm curious to hear your thoughts. At the moment I have the 20 fetches/20 [duals/shocks] configuration, supplemented with a variety of lands for each colour pair (some filters, some manlands, some bouncelands, etc)...

Doranthem seems much more fulfilling if it actually pumps your guys as well. You could get away with it at 1GW though for +0/+1 and the P/T damage switch.

Blue doesn't have much in the way of sacrifice effects, but someone tell that to Barrin.

I like it! If only Doran were easier to cast...

Technically this deck only 1-0ed thanks to time constraints but it's sweet and this is the first time my cube's been drafted irl in months, so deal. Yes, after years of mocking the Gravecrawler-Griselbrand menace, we can laugh no more. Decklist in case the pic's unclear:

I think Thoughtseize is probably a good card to have in Modern, on balance. It actually makes it easier to allow a diversity of decks in the format: your fair deck now has a way to handle Karn Liberated and Desperate Ritual and Cryptic Command etc. without spreading itself too thin, so the...

It's giving too much credit to filter lands to say that they make mana 'too good'. You can't build your deck around the starts that filter lands enable because when you don't draw your one Rugged Prairie your R-WW-1RR curve looks really awkward. I'd also reject the 'too few...; too many...'...

^YES The Extended season in 2010 was one of the most enjoyable formats ever, imo, and it would actually be kept in check a lot more by some of the cards printed since then (Abrupt Decay, Rest in Peace, Stony Silence as answers, not to mention Birthing Pod, Splinter Twin, Karn...). It's a shame...

There are so many blue 4s though. Tons of good draw spells (FoF, both Gifts, DA, Careful Consideration, Foresee) but also a lot of the anti-creature stuff (Sower, Control Magic, Dungeon Geists) as well as stuff like Dismiss, GEA etc.

Not Theros previews, but these are kinda cool despite the art (https://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/arcana/491): These don't exist in physical form, but they're real enough for me. The planeswalker looks really sweet ('looks' might be the wrong word...)

In singleton maybe, but I can't imagine wanting to put that card in my Cube when I could just add another Fact or Fiction.

- Look for aggro creatures with late-game applications (Figure of Destiny, Student of Warfare) - or that fit in control decks (Tarmogoyf, Blade Splicer) - Include ways for aggro to sweep the legs out from under control (mass LD is particularly good for this, even lesser cards like Thoughts of...
