This is one of the most efficient option available that gains you a relevant amount of life, that has to count for something! It probably plays much better than you think.

If it had been able to target planeswalkers, I might have replaced Hero's Downfall (talk about Murder :)) with it. I really like black having a direct out to planeswalkers.

That would have been worthy of a holy crap indeed! It's still a decent spell, but it's no Murder. Life gain is very nice in black though, plus crap removal is sometimes more fun than optimal answers :)

I like it. Only thing I would change is an "and" or "or" instead of the comma between "rely on constant recursion of various threats" and "going wide with tokens", because constant recursion of various threats does not logically lead to going wide with tokens.

Well, this isn't an EDH forum, is it :P I was talking about cube. I think Vat and Closet are slightly better there. Vat can benefit from your opponent's creatures, and Closet has an immediate effect. Both can trigger your best etb effects repeatedly.

I don't expect Panharmonicum to be particularly good, it's probably on par with Conjurer's Closet and worse than Mimic Vat. It's probably more boring than either of those as well. A safe pass for me.

So, +1/+1 counters is a focus of the set. Wonder if we'll get to see more good cards for that cube theme.

Also, dwarves are back. In white! Gremlins are back, in red, and they look way cute :) And black has a completely new race. No zombies confirmed!

I have. I'm running a few other green card advantage cards that I like, and are probably a bit better, but it certainly looks like an option!

This set is insane! Energy counters (a new form of currency to be used alongside mana) and vehicles (artifacts that you need to "crew" (tap creatures) to turn into a creature) are so out of the box for Magic o_O

I don't know why it would be anti-climatic. Isn't this just a case of your opponent having a clean answer? Much like graveyard exiling effects are good against reanimator? Or lifegain effects against an aggro deck that is trying to push through the last few points of damage?
