I could maybe see it being a niche thing like Runed Crown/Runeforge Champion? Just enough to give eternal formats another toy to ignore or be an exciting card to see while drafting the set but not enough to make "wish for all the Lessons" a Standard deck.

I'm looking at this and I'm seeing a weirdo burn/storm card for a lower power format. I'm honestly kinda curious how it'll look in play. I wonder how many prepared creatures do you need to have in your format before it's worth shoving Skycoach Waypoint into your utility land draft? ---...

It's also kinda neat that it's an X spell that isn't completely awful if you free-cast it.

Some neat cards from the Commander decks (it's kinda weird that they only made Classes for two of the colleges but whatever): Naktamun Lorespinner This feels like it hits the sweet spot of doing something incredibly powerful without being broken. What a cool Jackal Wizard. I feel like Prepared...

Ward is an extra cost iirc, so that's actually the appropriate formatting. Compare to Sinister Concoction

Check out Scryfall if you haven't already - the April Fools site edit is pretty cool this year.

While I mostly agree with you, Train, I feel like Tanazir Quandrix is a reasonable card in normal Magic if you aren't too drunk on the powercreep sauce. A 4/4 flampler for {3}{G}{U} is a solid body, and turning your other creatures into 4/4s (or bigger) when you swing in feels like a cool...

Oh hey, they made a more playable version of Epic. Evolve based off of spell costs feels really appropriate for Quandrix. I also like how WotC is experimenting with mechanics that work nicely kicking or splicing stuff onto spells. I'm warming up to prepared. Also, I'll fully admit that...

Can't link an image, but I'm drawn to this card from the Commons leak: Visionary's Dance - {5}{U}{R} Sorcery (c) Create two 3/3 blue and red Elemental creature tokens with flying. {2}, discard this card: Look at the top two cards of your library. Put one of them into your hand and the other...

    General "Looking for a card"-Thread

My idea was mostly that Imodane is a neat midrange-y way to recontextualize your burn suite, since you no longer have to "waste" burn on removing blockers/utility dorks... which doesn't really fit the "way to turn spell velocity into a win" need that you expressed in your reply.

I feel like Ojer's probably worth a test, then.

More detailed thoughts later (running late to work) but what about Imodane the Pyrohammer?

Ojer Axonil's a fun buildaround, but it honestly feels a bit overpriced outside of an EDH context? Which sounds ridiculous considering how wild it can get with pump spells or a bunch of pingers, but if your deck is an effective burn deck without it you don't really need it, and if you just want...

I mean, it depends on your power level: Chivalric Alliance Fleeting Spirit Guardian of New Benalia Illuminator Virtuoso Peace of Mind Professor of Symbology Seasoned Hallowblade Icatian Crier Is it the best way to bin Glory? No, but Raffine's Informant pitching Glory or Prismatic Strands is a...

Of the two, Long Feng feels more likely to actually do the cool thing, especially since you're on 15 Prismatic Vistas.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I'm honestly really happy about the overall quality of bounce spells recently - bouncing stuff for value has a more interesting texture than flickering it, and you get to do stupid nonsense with a broader range of permanents. It's a win-win!

Card/Deck Broken cards for lower power

I'd honestly include it even if there's an experience disparity - newer players have to learn somehow, and I remember that seeing people play Brainstorm well was one of my big "oh wait, this game is pretty deep" moments. As long as the group isn't super competitive it should be fine.

I love this thing in any environment that has good ways of bouncing or flickering artifacts: Riverchurn Monument It turns out that sticking a Keening Stone activation on a cheaper artifact is pretty good, and figuring out the best way to do it multiple times makes for a nice little mini-game...
