Yes I also like the simple, clean designes and sometimes more powerful 'nuts and bolts'-cards. That said, 2020 does not feel like a core set to me so far. Lots of legends, 3-colored cards, colored artifacts, really complicated cards with huge walls of text ... Ixalan felt more core set I'd say.

If you have a lot of grindy recursuion and a lifegain theme in black, Bontu's Monument seems pretty good too.

Yeah it feels a bit like a dumbed down upheaval. "Here, look, this bounces everything and cheats a threat into play! You don t have to float mana anymore!"

I think I like this guy a lot as a token signpost. the mana sink is pretty expensive here, but there will be times, where you have nothing better to do with 5 mana. Itself I like much more from the body than stuff like Wayfaring Temple, because being a 1/5 or 2/5 early on instead of a 1/1 or 2/2...

Do you think it is better than Gaze of Granite? in a deck, which might not be able to profit from the two +1/+1 counters? because then it is just a multicolored Breath of Darigaaz, I guess which is fine though. But Gaze is scaleable like Deed and can be cast for 5 to kill a bunch of weenies ...

First card spoiled and I'm already interested. Also hoping that this indicates {W/B} lifegain as an archetype!

A week and another monday. And it looks like every day will be super full of sources for spoilers. Monday it will start with 35 or so sites/persons revealing new cards. Core 19 was actually a pretty good set for us with it's life gain theme. I have some hopes this will fit my themes better...

It depends on blue's role in your meta, but I think you answered yourself there. In my cube it would be more common for blue than curve with a Signet or other mana rock into Network than having a wide and/or evasive board presence. In the end, the cards are not really competing for the same...
